Sometimes the only way out from some situation might be a single lie which usually serve as a rescuer. Lying can be your only escape route when you want to do something coded at a particular moment.
Though it's good to always say the truth because I don't think there is a time that lying is acceptable, but there are some situations in life that telling a little lie will help you solve your problem or bring you out of trouble.
I vividly remember the lie I used to save myself some time ago. My first employment after my National Youth Service was at a School of Advanced learning, I worked as a secretary.
The Proprietor of the school was a jovial man but his major problem is that he spends money on unnecessary things, so most of the time it's always difficult for him to pay my salary at the end of the month.
His usual routine was to come to the learning center at least twice a week and collect all the money that the students had paid to me. He will collect all the money without leaving a dime. Once he has collected the money, he will vanish into the thin air till the following week or when next he needed money.
Most times I collect my hard earned salary between 9th - 15th of the following month, It was so difficult for me to take good care of myself then because of the irregular payment of the salary and I don't have any other place to work as at that time. So I devised a means of helping myself.
I concluded within myself that I will be removing certain amount from the students fees and be keeping it aside till month end to pay myself without going through stress of calling him for my money.
So I made up my mind never to be giving him all the money with me because of my own welfare. So once my boss is around to do what he knows best to do, I would lie to him about the total cash left with me. Thankfully I'm the one paying the tutors their wages too so it's very easy for me to take out money and tagged it for a purpose.
Another advantage is that he was always in a haste because of other engagements so he never for once check thoroughly to know if I'm saying the truth or not. Though he trusted me a lot because I don't mismanaged his money.
That's was how I paid my salary for good 5 months before the Covid19 send all of us to lockdown. Once he paid me at his convenient time, I will return his money into the center's purse without wasting time.
From my experience, I just have to do something so that I won't become a beggar because almost everyone that knew me knows I'm going to a particular place to work. So why won't I have my salary at the right time. I know lying isn't good but at that particular time it's my escape route from being broke, telling the truth will caused me more harm than good.
