Greetings everyone, welcome to my blog. This is my first entry for this prestigious community hopefully I do not break any of its regulations. For the second prompt of the week, the topic is centered on the concept of art and the controversial existence of bad art.
Meta AI defines art as the expression or application of human creativity and imagination, often through visual, auditory, or written forms, to convey emotions, ideas, or experiences. It is a way of life which does not only bring ideas to life but also represents who we are. Art comes in different variations ranging from speaking, dancing to painting and drawing. It is one of man's greatest features visible since his very conception evolving with time as it is being passed from generation to generation.
When an idea pops into your head, let's say like a song or an image and you try to put it down into a piece of paper, that unique style can be referred to as art because it is you expressing your idea bringing something from your head into reality. Growing up I always loved the world of fashion and because of my deep interest in this field, I started making sketches on clothes, dresses and outfits for ladies. My first attempt looked like a masterpiece to me and I continued to work on myself until I eventually enrolled into a training program to learn how to make those dresses myself. Till this day I still go online to learn more about the fashion world just so I can improve my skills, work on my own unique signature style and also honestly my craft. Sketching and sewing are works of art to me and when I am going all in on producing the best possible result, I am expressing myself the best way I know how to .
Whenever I hear people say that bad art exists I simply frown at such statements because I don't believe in expressing yourself in the best way you know how to have any shortcomings to it. If these are all my ideas and I am giving life to them, how can I be terrible at my own game, this makes zero sense. This controversial belief in the existence of bad art comes from nothing other than comparison and even though it has caused more harm than good I don't believe it will ever stop. Once we look at something, we automatically compare it to a similar work which we have seen before and if it does not meet up to that particular standard it is seen as a bad work. Comparison is the enemy of true art and unless it is sidelined or taken back a bit people will always refer to some unique art variations as bad ignoring the potentials they hold for being one of a kind.
Personally I do not believe that bad art exists, I just see it as people who do not understand the work of others so they refer to it as an underwhelming performance. I know of a guy who went to audition at a talent show but he was evicted because the judges did see his style fit for their standard only for him to go someplace else and was immediately accepted as one of the best artists. Art is dynamic and cannot be treated equally, just because it doesn't fit into a particular box doesn't make it bad...
