Some traders make you miss them when you are not in the location to buy from them, sometimes you will even prefer to take the pains to go miles or order the goods from faraway just because of how good they are while some other traders make sure you regret patronising them and would never even refer anybody to them.
About two years ago, I needed to buy a phone because my former one got lost and so I went to a shop where I could get my preferred brand.
The sales representative was so patient with me, explaining the pros and cons of each one while not persuading me to buy the one that would give her the most commission. You know how it is when you are buying a gadget and don't want to make a mistake because we don't buy phones everyday.
She got to know the various activities I would be using the phone for and she recommended one whose camera was just okay but every other feature would serve me.
I am still using the phone till date and it is still serving me very well.
When I finally made my choice following her explanations, I paid and she gave me a complementary water bottle.
I was really impressed because I have not received any complimentary gift from any business after my patronage.
A few days afterwards, I could not access some features in the phone and I went back to her. She was very helpful once again, putting me through how to navigate it and I could not thank her enough because that particular feature was one of my major reasons for needing an android phone.
About the same time, I went to buy a television and a fan.
I wanted to go for the popular brands LG for the TV and OX for the fan.
They were more expensive than others but I didn't mind.
After bargaining and arriving at a price with the seller, I paid and my goods were packaged and I went home.
On getting home I met the shock of my life, the goods were swapped, I received a different TV with a funny name but for the fan, it was another popular brand but it was not the OX I paid for.
Here's how tricky the situation was for me; these items were for the village and I bought them in a business town, not in my own town.
That's to say that I travelled about two hours away from my town and I carried it back to my town and then to my village which was about one hour away from my town.
A cumulative journey of more than five hours had been undertaken before I realised the deception.
The thought of returning it and the stress it would put me through could not permit me to do that.
I called the trader and expressed my displeasure but he did not deny his actions. He was only promoting the products which he gave me and telling me that they were even better than what I wanted, emphasizing that LG and OX were just brand names and not necessarily better than those he gave me.
The incident scarred me and since then, I am always very careful while buying stuffs, I even intentionally pretend to help the traders while packing my stuffs just to make sure it is not a case of "what I ordered Vs what I got".
