One thing I have always tell people, before applying or before going for interview, do the necessary research and make sure it is real.
I wouldn’t discourage a friend who has a job opportunity in another state. I’m sure as you went for the interview, you learnt something you and that experience made you above some of them who havent traveled to another state for an interview. Sometimes not all our risk comes out well but we always learn a valuable lesson from them.

Continue to apply even outside your state and country and who knows, one of the jobs might be the turning point you needed.

Keep on pushing and I’m sure something great will happen soon.
