They say readers are leaders, this is something I hold dear. My little library consist of different kind of books, books I have acquired for different reasons over the years, either for educational or personal reasons. At the start of my life I wouldn't say I was fond of books the same way I was fond of other literary works like movies and music. Like I have said lot of times what led me into writing wasn't because I had derived lot of ideas from books, writing was a way for me to sort out my own personal thoughts.
I have been writing poems before I knew what it was, I kept it short clean and subjected to my own translations only. As time goes on, as I pass through the academic ladder, I began to discover the value of books and it can help me to transform my ideas to something meaningful. Despite my new found discovery, my next step wasn't to embark on reading literary books like novels, I focused more on education books, theories and conceptual analysis of different concept, anything based on better understanding of concepts.
Everyone have a niche and that was mine and from there my interest began to grow into other genres of books, specifically motivation books. As someone who occasionally write about different quotes about life on different social media platforms, I find motivation books to align with my style of writing, nothing fictional, real and something heartfelt about life. Fiction is great but it doesn't depicts reality like authors of motivation books does.

As if my reading habit isn't narrow enough, I'm the kind of person that does not really enjoy reading virtual books. It is not as if I hate it but I discover that if I spend too much time on screen, I feel the effect in my eyes. Spending time on screen is something I do a lot and I'm not about to add additional time of reading virtual books online to it because I'm not planning on using glasses anytime soon which always turns out to be the case for people that spend time on screen like I do. In order to combat this I prefer to opt for physical books but not just because of my eyes only.
Over the years I discover how our device can become a big source of distraction, I mean you can be in a deep state of reading a book and suddenly a notification pops up and you will have no choice but to want to check it out and from there only God knows where it will lead to. For physical books it is a different case entirely, I always manage to maintain my focus while reading physical books though they might occupy space but I have gotten used to keeping a collection of it.

Speaking of the last time I read a book, I think about a couple of days ago, not just one book but two. I don't tend to consume every content in a book if I don't want to, every book have a table of content, I easily gaze through the passage I want and fetch it out. Due to this, it makes it easier for me to simultaneously read more than one book at the same time, fetching out what I need and crosscheck the fact with another.
I have been reading books on communication and self discipline recently, it seems like the only step I need to take while planning for the plans I have ahead. I need something to keep my resolution sharp and my mind in the right shape. The two books are "perspective in interpersonal communication by Sina aina and "No excuse by Brian Tracy" . I have read the second book more than 2 times, though I was able to finish up the book "the richest man in Babylon" but it was virtual. A friend of mine on hive shared me and it happens to be the first time I was able to complete a virtual book. When next will I pick up a book? For now I still have the book "the power of your mind" to read, after that, time will tell.
