The concept of air pollution is not something new, it is an act that involves releasing of all kind of harmful substances into the atmosphere, on the top of list of harmful substances released into the atmosphere causing air pollution is carbon emissions. A substance that originate from exhaust from automobiles, factory machines, bush burning e.t.c thinking of carbon emissions, the most common source of it around here is automobile. Which comes in all kinds of varieties such as vehicles, bikes, trucks e.t c and other means of transportation that involves fossil fuels burning, either for public use or private.

The role of transportation in the human society can't be undermined, it is a sector in the society that drives a lot of activities. The use of all kind of means of transportation has made it a lot easier for humans to move from one place to another and also for business reasons but then the pollution that originates from all kind of means of transportation are still minimal compared to automobiles in our society. Billions of all kind of varieties of automobiles exist within our society while millions are in use everyday causing emission of carbon and polluting our atmosphere. There are all kind of dangers of air pollution most especially to humans health, as one of the apex species that survives oxygen, not to talk of dangers of air pollution to the entire ecosystem.

Scientists have discovered all kind of methods in reducing the causes of air pollution in our society, in responding to the threat of air pollution government in different countries have passed different kind of laws with which is deeply rooted in the findings of renowned environmentalists. In the journey of reducing the causes of air pollution there are some causes that has been put under control in some sectors in our society most especially in developing countries, causes such as waste disposal, bush burning but when it comes control of carbon emissions from vehicles we have not gotten very far. I have earlier explained the role transportation plays in our society which automobiles play a huge part, in such regard passing policy that controls the usage of automobiles while aiming at the reduction of carbon emissions to control the rate of air pollution is not something easy.

We humans don't just consider the use of automobiles as a means of transportation, it is part of our lifestyle. We have humans with hundreds of automobiles kept in their compound like a trophies. Thinking of a way to reduce the numbers of vehicles at use especially for private individuals is something that can be achieved though before passing such policy the government have to first put in place adequate public transportation system with easy access for the people because majority of people opt for private means of transportation due to inadequate public transportation system especially in developing countries.

Speaking of such policy, what do you think of a policy that dictates one vehicle per family? It is no doubt that we have families out there with hundreds of cars in their yards, passing such policy will definitely reduce the number of vehicles in possession of each family in so doing it will reduce a percentage of carbon emission causing air pollution in our society. But then, before thinking about the goodness that comes with such policy, it is no doubt that it will cause great inconvenience to people, especially those in developing areas lacking adequate means of public transportation. We have people with large family members and conditioning such people to only make use of just one vehicle for the entire family might just translate to asking them to walk without cloths.

We can't disregard the good intention of such a policy, it creates an healthy environment for the populace of earth but while we are at it, we have to compare and contrast which one causes greater inconvenience to the people because the bitter truth is that it is difficult to expect government to meet up with the transportation needs of every sector in the society. Those without the privilege of public transportation how do you expect them to go about their daily activities? this is a policy that even prevents you from buying a vehicle of your own despite having a means to. Like I said earlier, for policy like this to be implemented government needs to first find a way to provide public transportation for every sector in the society. After all cutting of a head is never the cure for headache, it would only lead to more problems.

Regulating the amount of cars and expecting people to travel with public cars is literally impossible for the rich. These public terminals have low security and it takes a lot of time with lots of people breathing the same air in an enclosed car. Not many rich people can survive in such environments. A rich man is an easy target for kidnappers, so, going public is not adviceable.

That is why I said "adequate public transportation system"

The security issues of public transportation is not something that is without solutions. I'm not saying it is not going to be difficult but as long as we have adequate public transportation system it will reduce stress of one family having to survive on just one vehicle paving a way for the implementation of the policy.

Moreover, rich people are also humans, which means they also understand the dangers of carbon emissions to our ecosystem, if public transportation is not up to their standard they can manage the single car provided for each family or find a way to contribute to the betterment of public transportation.

You have a point here.

It will be nice if the government lead by example. Politicians should first, stop travelling with a long convoy, and limit it to just one car.

Air pollution unfortunately threatens the very existence of humanity as our healths is constantly faced with these carbon emissions that do not just threaten our immediate environment but also the ozone layers.

Probably a huge tax on such ownership may put a curb. I think two cars per family should suffice but for ease and convenience

Two car per family will definitely reduce the rate of inconveniences that might be caused by one car per family but the issue is how effective would two car per family be in the reduction of carbon emissions compared to one car per family.

Moreover we are trying save ourselves from extinction, sacrificing our conveniences seems like a small price to pay for the sake of humanity.

Thank you very much. I believe we have a high rate of carbon emission in Africa majorly because we use cars that should have been abandoned and hold them like priceless possessions. Sound cars with good engines would not pose significant threat.

Thank you

In the end, I agree with what you said because it is also true that many people do not have the privilege of public transport, how will they carry out their daily activities. Such people will have to use their personal vehicles. Apart from this, the government will also have to improve public transport because public transport is also limited and the services of government public transport are not very good.
