Generally the statement carries a more deeper meaning.

Whenever I make use of it, it is always when there is no other suitable answer in mind but somehow, saying it is well, just gives the perfect response to whatever is ongoing.

And sometimes, it also translate to, let see how it goes. I guess it depends on who the statement comes from and the understanding of the receiver.
