There are a lot of things to be grateful for as a human being, living as a human is not a small feat. When I take a look at my life, there has always been something I'm grateful for. What will I will be grateful for, even if I'm at gun point and asked to choose? it is quite simple, though I will never wish for such a situation. My life has been quite eventful despite the ups and downs, I have always been proud to live my life the way I wanted.
I live my life based on principles, just to ensure I don't deviate from the kind of life, I had envisioned for myself. Each of these principles are acquired from years of experience and consistent learning. In a world filled with all kinds of noise, it is so easy to get distracted and get Involved in things that might cause serious damage to a person's future.
Being born into a christian family definitely made it a lot easier to live by principle. My parents are devoted christians and they ensure we follow the directives of the holy doctrine, at all times. I wouldn't say I had a choice in the beginning but as time goes on, I realize living by following rules and regulations definitely reduce the risk of recklessness.
As time goes on, I started forming by own principles, as my knowledge of the world increased. It is not easy to set rules and obey them because it takes high level of discipline, which I had to cultivate. Though I have always isolated myself from the rest of the world, not because I feel I was better than everyone. It is to make sure I don't get mixed in the wrong circle.
The world is a very wild place and the lore to do what is not right, can be quite appealing. Living by my own rules definitely made me less fun to roll with but I was never bothered. I consider it to be a privilege to be blessed with a mind, that is capable of differentiating between what is right and what is not, even during difficult times. A privilege most peopcan only wish to be entitled to.
So if I were to find myself in such a situation and I was asked to choose, I would definitely be grateful to have lived a life of my chosing. I know there are lot of things to be grateful for but that point nothing else matters. A person once said, at the moment of our death, how we have lived flash through our eyes.
That is the moment you start wondering if all you have lived for was worth it. A moment of regret of one's life and reminiscing about the choices made. If at that moment, if a person can't seem to picture something tangible that defines their existence on earth, it will definitely feel like a wasted life.
