Hello Everyone, I hope you have a good day
I like to read Manwha and Manga. Honestly sometime I am not so excited if I find a new series, because most of the things are about reincarnation and Isekai. Someone who dies then rebirth again with past memory and it becomes their advantage to recontinue their life.
Somehow reincarnation is become something that popular nowadays. As an Agnostic person, I do not belief that concept. I have grown up in a family, which more than 90% from my family hold Islam as their religion. My formal religion is Catholic, although I might have left most of their teaching due to current belief.
Both Catholic and Islam do not belief in Reincarnation. There is a reincarnation concept in both Religion, but it is not about rebirth into your current life or getting born again sometime in the future.
My mother holds Buddha as her religion. Her family are dominated by Buddha believers. So their family believe in Reincarnation, however Buddha reincarnation concept are not the same as you might think about reincarnation in pop culture.
If we talk about reincarnation, even in each old religion who hold belief about it, the concept are different. let say Buddhism and Hinduism, Hinduism believes in eternal soul, which the soul never dies and keep having a continuity in the soul journey. This is called as Atmam, and Buddhism denies that. Buddhism believes in Anatta which means that there is no eternal soul that moves from life to life.
Even right now I am religion-free-based, I still believe in God based on Monotheism. So the reincarnation concept that I could believe is the Buddhism, which is about Karma and Samsara. Karma is the law of cause and effect, which someone good deeds will be counted and the deciding factor for the rebirth and Samsara which means all life will be trapped in the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
However this is not the concept of people will have rebirth in the future. This rebirth concept as reincarnation that people see is more influenced by pop culture, not by religion teaching. Trust me if you haven't learnt about Buddhism, their rebirth concept is lame, it is about afterlife not this real world life.
Reincarnation As Part Of Pop Culture
Honestly, from my point of view.. The current Reincarnation that people believe, or what people think about it is actually not the real concept of reincarnation. It is more like part of our current pop culture.
Through movies, cartoon, anime and novel romans, people are getting reincarnation topics. This pop culture is more telling reincarnation as a self expression and some idea of continuity about why we have been here before. It is no longer something as a doctrine or teaching.
The concept is no longer a religious ideas. It is more like a secular and phycological interpretations. The most common thing is that the belief of a person living today as the reincarnation of someone from the past, they even prefer to be someone as a a historical figure.
The proves and facts they garner are most likely like this:
- Some people have memories from their past life, carried over to nowadays. Some even claim some talents that they never learn before.
- Some people hold new age regression therapy which they say some cases successfully uncovered past life memories.
For me, all those things are bullshits. You may believe them, it's completely your right but please don't ask me to buy that idea.
I know well I might be wrong, there might be a real reincarnation, there might be real people from the past regarding no exact empirical method to prove this all as a false one.
However even If I am wrong, I do believe that the real reincarnation that becomes true, it is far from all those Hollywood stuff and those manhwa-manhua things.
Just my 2 cents here.
Thank you for coming and reading my post. I live in Jakarta, Ex-Capital City of Indonesia. Currently I am running a small business with less than 10 people. I used to live by making money online, that's why I like being here, on HIVE, and in #PIMP - (Paper In My Pocket) community.
