for people on our age, homework was very needed. However seeing nowadays kids, I start to doubt the need of giving them homework. They are more independent and know what they should do. Their issues are more on perseverance, endurance, and sturdiness which were not our issues back then when we were kids.
But that's just my 2 cent
Perseverance is also learned with homework! Many challenges you learn how to solve with homework. For example, you can learn how to code python right now, you have all the information on the internet, but you need to persist. Of course that with AI things become easier and you can ask the computer to make programs for you. But still practice is needed if you want to create new neuron connections.
