Hello learner family,
Sunday are always special in our home—a day to relax, spend time with family, and enjoy good food together. It’s the one day when everyone wakes up late, takes their time, and we cherish being with each other. For my daughters, Sunday is synonymous with special meals, as they love to request their favorite dishes.
Today, their demand was clear: pasta for lunch! Luckily, I had a packet of semolina-based penne pasta in my pantry, perfect for this occasion. Let me share the recipe with you, as it turned out to be a delightful treat for all.

Boil the Pasta:
In a large pot, boil water and add 1 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon oil.
Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente (soft but firm).
Drain the pasta and rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking. Set aside.
Prepare the Sauce:
Heat oil in a pan.
Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
Add tomato puree and mix well.
Add black pepper , chilli flakes ,oregano and salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Then add chopped capsicum and green onion.
Add tomato sauce and cook 2 minutes.
Combine Pasta and Sauce:
Add the boiled pasta to the sauce and toss gently to coat the pasta evenly.
Now add the water used to boil the pasta and cook on low heat for a while. Mix well.
Serve:
Garnish with extra herbs or coriander leaves. And serve hot.
The semolina pasta turned out soft and delicious, with the vibrant flavors of the sauce bringing everything together. My daughters absolutely loved it and even asked for a second helping! It feels so rewarding to see happy, satisfied faces around the table.
Sundays are not just about food in our house; they’re about creating memories. And this simple yet flavorful pasta dish became the highlight of our day. Try it for your family, and I’m sure they’ll love it just as much as mine did!
