Hello my creative family,
Sunday breakfast always feels special to me. I try to make something that every member of my family can enjoy. We prepare meethi sawae, but one morning I attempted to prepare Namkeen Sawae (salty vermicelli). Surprisingly enough, it was so popular that now my kids request this more than the sweet variety.

2 cup sawae (vermicelli)
2 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1โ2 green chilies, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 carrot chopped
1 small capsicum
1/2 cup peanuts
1 lemon
2 1/2 cups water
Curry leaves
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

First, we will roast the vermicelli with a little oil until it turns golden. And chopped all veggies.
Heat oil in a pan, fry the peanuts and gram, and set them aside.
Weโll add them at the end because if we add them earlier, theyโll become soggy.
Add cumin seeds and curry leaves to the remaining oil. As they splutter, add green chilies and onion. Fry until onion turns golden.
Then add tomatoes, carrot, capsicum salt, and turmeric powder. Cook until tomatoes get soft.
Add 2 1/2 cups water and let it boil.
Add the vermicelli and let it boil. When a little water is left, cover it and cook on low flame for 10 minutes until water gets absorbed.
Now add the fried peanuts and gram on top. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice over it. Garnish with coriander.
Then mix everything together and serve hot.
Namkeen Sawae is fast, light, and satisfying. It is ideal for breakfasts when time is short but you still need to provide your family with something delicious and nutritious. Children adore it so much that although we always used to love meethi sawae, this salty variation has become a favorite with them now. I sometimes add peanuts for added crunch, sometimes do not. Either method makes everyone at the table contented.
