In my country, there is an insecurity issue right now. It will be great to have a fictional hero to come to my rescue without bothering if my parents have money for ransom or not. While police will be busy delaying my rescue by asking for fuel money and asking if they are sure I didn't visit my boyfriend. Someone will be out there saving me without allowing any hurt to come to me.
On that note, I will choose Superman, not because he's one of the iconic heroes, but because his personality, determination, speed, and methods make him the kind of person that will never give up until he finds me, no matter the odds.
Again, having Superman by my side is like having an unstoppable force tearing through every obstacle to rescue me and bring me back safe. The thing about Superman is that his power makes him the ultimate rescuer. He has this super strength of lifting objects no matter how heavy they are without fear, and his super hearing nature and his x-ray vision—these features are what will make him find me easily.
Even if I was kidnapped and taken to Sambisa Forest or a faraway desert, with his super hearing nature, he will just listen carefully and detect my heartbeat or my voice, and it's finished. He will locate me even if they, like, let them change location. As long as he has picked up my heartbeat, he will find me in just a matter of a few seconds or minutes.
Unlike some other heroes, I will need to strategize, pick up clues, and plan carefully before coming for my rescue. Sometime while they are at it, there might be a mole among them that will cause a distraction that will delay them. Another advantage that Superman has over other heroes is his speed and flying nature; yes, his speed is unmatched. Time is one thing that you don't play with when someone has been kidnapped because every second and minute for me to stay alive counts; one small delay can result in the kidnappers killing the person.
But with Superman, I wouldn't have to wait for days or weeks to be rescued before they will even think of asking for ransom money; he would have been in their hideout in his cool and calm presence that commands fear.
They wouldn't even get the chance to hurt or hold me to threaten him because he's faster than they are. Beyond his natural gift, Superman is compassionate; he values life, whether rich or poor, and he is always available to rescue. He wouldn't just come because it is his duty, but he genuinely cares. He always sees the best in every human being.
That kind of heart is what makes a difference. Even if I am terrified, when he comes, he has a way to make people feel protected and safe. Even when it doesn't feel like it. Just him saying you are safe makes every fear disappear.
If I want a less dramatic, fast, and almost flawless rescue, Superman will be my choice; with him no long chase or drawn-out battle. Just light and hope.
