My Experiences Riding And Driving

in Hive Learnerslast year

Learning is something that happens daily. As long as we are alive, We learn everyday. Both knowingly and unknowingly we learn something.
Learning could be easy at the same time difficult, depending on either our mindset or how easy or difficult what you want to learn is.

Since I can remember, anything I put my mind to learn, I always learn it perfectly. Before I learnt how to ride a bicycle, I used to see other children riding it and I wanted to learn it by all means but my Dad was a bit protective. He doesn't want us to get hurt so he didn't want to hear of it. my friends also said that before you can learn how to ride a bicycle, you will have an injury. Meaning that in the process of learning how to ride, one would injure himself.

All these didn't stop me. My mind was already there I just needed someone that would teach me. Fortunately for me, one of my friends dad bought a new bicycle for her brother. I was so happy. It was as if the bicycle was mine. The next day, I told him about my plans to learn how to ride a bicycle. He agreed and asked me for biscuits. Since we sell them, I gave him as much as I could get from the shop. The plan was to learn in the evenings when my parents had gone to the shop. I was very happy.

When I started learning how to ride a bicycle, I was held the first day but the next day, I started riding and falling on my own. By the third evening, I was already riding the bicycle from our block to the next and third block. This was so easy for me and I really enjoyed it. When my siblings saw me riding it, they were challenged and the ones that had the guts asked me to teach them.

After graduation from the university, a friend of mine encouraged me to learn how to drive a car. I was a bit nonchalant about it but he encouraged me and told me it's easier to learn how to drive a car than a bicycle that since I could ride a bicycle, a car would be like a piece of cake. I agreed and started. After all the lecture, I watched him, and he asked me to drive, following his instructions. It was on a field. I was shaking 😂

For weeks, I couldn't do much. Later, when I could finally drive well on the field, he drove to the road and asked me to drive. I was sweating profusely. My hands were all sweaty and shaking holding the wheel. I was just moving anyhow. He kept encouraging me that I did it on the field, that I could do it.
It was so difficult for me but he didn't give up on me. It took a long time before I stop shaking on the wheel.

Comparing the two instances, I discovered that learning a bicycle was very easy for me despite the odds and fact that it was difficult for others, because I was so focused on learning it. My mind was made up to learn it. While learning to drive a car was difficult for me as much as it was easy for others because it was as if I was forced to learn it. My mind was not ready for it.
Putting my mind to something is my driving force. It helps me to achieve things.

Even till today I still can't ride a bike or a bicycle. The fear of injuring myself during the learning process made me stay away.

I learnt how to drive a car, though, and it was easier than imagined.

You can imagine 😂
The one that was easy for me, is difficult for you.
So funny, that's life.

The fear of injuring myself made me run away from learning how to ride a bicycle. But for learning how to drive a car, it has never cross my mind because I didn't own one. I believe when I'm ready I will go to a driving school to learn it.

Yeah, when you get yours, you just have to learn it.
