If there was anything I ever wished for and wanted while growing up and as a young child was to have a job and work in an office where I get paid a monthly salary to take care of myself and my family. During that time, all we were told and advised was to take our studies seriously so that when we finished, we would get a job immediately because everything was as easy as it was in those years.
But as time went on and growth was taking its natural process, technology too was advancing, we got to know of something called 'working from home' where you don't have to wake up very early in the morning, get dressed on time to beat the traffic and when you eventually get to the office, loads of works piled up on the office desk staring at your beautiful and handsome face, you wonder how on earth would you get those done before the close of the day.
While at it, there is a knock on your door, someone has come to call you that your attention is needed at the boss' office, on getting there, you are queried for coming to work later than the normal resuming hours. Before you even utter the word "Jack", a reduction in your salary has happened. The money you were managing before has now been tampered with. What do you do?
For every 9-5 job you are involved in, you are at the mercy of the employer and for any slight mistake, you are either queried, suspended for a while or sacked completely depending on the weight of the offence. No one ever wants to be subjected to such a life but many people do not have a choice than to endure since it is what is bringing food to the table no matter how much it is.
Then comes several platforms that pays for your work and effort. All you have to do is to be at your convenient place, your smartphone/laptop with stable internet and network. By working from home, there is flexibility where you resume when you want to, and no one to query or threaten to sack you. You are your boss and you decide what days to work and when to rest. All that matters is to deliver the job to your client at an agreed date and you get paid.
When I started on my first writing platform, I made up my mind to start working from home and enjoy my time and not be controlled anyhow by a boss who may decide to be mean or kind to his employees. So far, working from home has been a good one as you are free to travel to wherever you want while still working, provided your smartphone and laptop are in good condition. One could be in transit and still be working without anyone calling to call them back to work giving a time for them to report at the office or else, they lose their job.
My family never believed I was working when I was at home and what I was doing was fetching me money. What most of them thought was that I was into fraud scamming people, and the more I explained to them what I do, the more they kept thinking it was all lies because they never understood how someone would be sitting at home and on her phone and it would be bringing in money for her. It took a longer time before my dad finally got what I was saying because he noticed I wasn't doing anything bad to bring money which I would give to him also and I was at peace with him.
Those who trusted that I couldn't be any person who would bring shame to the family and that I was doing the right thing, left me alone while others today still think I am a Yahoo girl who scams people and gets my money from it. I had to stop explaining myself to them and conclude if they would believe me or not, it's none of my business as long as I am doing the right thing.
So far so good, working from home has allowed me to do it in the comfort of my home and at my convenience. I can travel anytime without having to get permission because what I do is just like the MTN network whose logo is "Everywhere You Go"
