How time flies... It feels like yesterday when I signed up on 2go app which was the first ever social media app I used...
The first social media platform I knew was Facebook but I found it difficult to sign up because of the requirement, Gmail and others which I do not know how to open then but 2go came and made things easier for everyone...
Anyone can have a 2go account, even people without phones can sign up on 2go and log in with their friends phone when they are opportune...
Data was cheaper back then too, I remember the night I downloaded the 2go app and log in, I only bought etisalat airtime worth 200 naira and I was given 15megabyte worth of data for free which last for weeks if properly managed unlike now that one can easily use 10gig in a day...
No one would have expected 2go to fade away like it did, as at when it was reigning, there were more 2go users than Facebook users..
It was fun chatting in group chats and then many people were going crazy about their 2go stars, I reached ultimate in one of my account...
Whatsapp was 2go killer, When android was launched and WhatsApp was founded, many people left 2go because WhatsApp offered more features which was direct messaging your friends as long as you have their number which 2go doesn't have, you can't find your friends unless they tell you their username...
Many of my friends left the 2go app then but I didn't care until my best friend also did, she left but would always check in sometimes to chat with me and she let me know I am the reason she stil checks in on 2go that I should come to WhatsApp and it was because of her I downloaded the WhatsApp app and slowly I started losing interest in 2go too...
With time, 2go fade away but it will always be remembered as the first social media platform which connect me with my best friend.
The app gave me a lot of memories which I cherish till now.
Out of curiosity, I downloaded the app again and I was able to access this account, it was my second account and it is a master account. I lost my first 2go account phone number which made it impossible to retrieve the password and the account star was already in ultimate.
Unfortunately my friend list isn't showing anymore, it seems 2go wiped them all 😭, I miss them but glad am still in contact with my bestie🙂 and few others...
