Phone Charger Chaos

in Digital Lifestyle8 days ago (edited)

These past two weeks have been a hassle for me and when that happens, I barely pay attention to the minor details around me. Like my eating habit, sleeping habit, my phone and how my charger was doing my battery harm all this while.

For the past two weeks, I’ve had to change my charger three times. The first charger had its usb A connector removed. For those who don’t know what usb A is, it’s the metal thing you connect to the charging cube or what people call charger head. I was in a hurry to charge my phone that day so I pressed the connector on the head instead of the usb A receptacle and it broke off.

For the second charger, I tripped and the charger connector or what others call charging cable held my leg. So my usb c connector removed and I was saved from landing on the floor with my head.

For the third charger, I bought it at night and only got to know it was fake when my battery health started reducing. So my battery health was 95 but after 24 hours of using the charger, it reduced to 94. And then to 93 as I’m typing. But I never realized until I paid attention to how fast my battery life was draining.

And that’s the thing with fake chargers, they charge very slow. I would put my low phone on charge and after an hour, I would come and meet it at 20%. Fake chargers also drain your battery life so fast which affects your battery health. They also cause your phone to overheat unnecessarily. Although iPhones have this heating history, it was too much this time. My phone would just heat up from the moment I put it on charge till I remove it.

So how did I eventually realize it was a fake charger? I checked my battery health and then I quickly inspected my usb c connector. That was when I got angry because I trusted the vendor to give me the original thing.

Now, if you want to know an original charger, the first thing to do is to check the usb A connector. The original one has no end but the fake one looks joined together. Another thing is the price. But this is tricky because they could still sell a charger to you at a very high price and it would still be fake. So that’s when you make sure you open the box and check the usb connectors right in front of the vendor.

So I just got another charger and I made sure to check the connectors three times even though I bought it straight from an apple shop and the chances of it being fake is very slim. And I could actually return it anytime. Every iPhone users know how valuable battery health is and how frustrating it gets when it begins to reduce. I’m just glad I realized it early to avoid further degradation.

To make profit, charger vendors will sale fake chargers for a very high price. It's really frustrating at times. People who don't actually understand phones and chargers will begin to think the problem is from their phone.

chargers also drain your battery life so fast which affects your battery health.

This is the first time I've heard this.
Thanks for the info

Of course, you’re welcome.
