I really took my time to create a post to share on Hive, but a simple mistake I made caused my post to get a downvote.
I'm sharing my experience so others can learn from my mistakes.
I joined Hive in October, 2024 so I can say that I am still new to the whole thing. So far, I have been enjoying every bit of the experience on this blockchain, even as I explore everything it has to offer.
I have explored a few communities and I am still looking out for more.
Meanwhile, I have a lot of pictures that sometimes inspire me to tell a story and so I write a post.
That being said, I decided to intentionally take pictures to share a recipe of my favorite meal on one of the niche communities. I took the time to prep and snap every ingredient purposely to post.
It didn't stop there. For the first time since I started my Hive journey, I used tables. This took a lot of time and effort because it was my first time, so I had to be cautious.
I was really satisfied with the content I had created to put out there. Before I forget, I aso tried to translate my post the best way I could. To me, it was the bomb. But one simple mistake made me get a downvote!
What was my mistake?
I followed two niche communities that are similar. After reading through the guidelines on one of the communities, I felt like it was the perfect place to share my post. But after putting my post together, it was time to select a community to post and I selected the wrong one
I was so mortified. That experience really humbled me a lot.
While exploring, I came across an old post by @starstrings01 about quality engagement and content. My Hive tutor also emphasizes on the importance of engaging and reading community guidelines, but somehow I found myself doing the contrary. Not exactly the contrary, but I feel like I was too careless to have posted on a different community.
As much as it is important to engage with others and strictly adhere to community guidelines, it is also very much important to go through everything over again to avoid costly mistakes.
I have learned and I am definitely not going to repeat a mistake like that anymore.
To conclude, I want to say to newbies that it is very important to cross-check and be sure to avoid errors as much as you can. I hope that someone would learn from my experience and avoid my kind of mistake.
