The best thing I heard today was a podcast about mathematics and society. I listened to the first two episodes, one about Thomas Fuller, a black slave in the United States, gifted in mental arithmetic who unwittingly participated in the abolition of slavery, and another episode about Florence Nightingale, who invented the graphic presentation of statistics to demonstrate nosocomial risks.
