En este momento histórico muchísima gente tiene sus ojos puestos en la chimenea de la Capilla Sixtina, la mirada de cada uno espera la fumata blanca que indicará la elección de un nuevo Papa.

El humo blanco indica que los Cardenales eligieron al sucesor del Papa fallecido y la frase latina "Habemus Papam" (¡Tenemos Papa!) es el anuncio oficial de que un nuevo Papa ha sido elegido.

“Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: habemus papam”, que significa “Les anuncio una gran alegría: ¡tenemos papa!”.

Mientras el humo blanco no aparezca, el Colegio Cardenalicio de la Iglesia Católica, Apostólica y Romana seguirá en Cónclave; palabra que viene del latín "cum clave" que significa bajo llave o a puerta cerrada.

Hoy, los cristianos del mundo están en vigilia, ayuno y oración para que el Espíritu Santo de Dios derrame su luz y sabiduría a los purpurados para que puedan elegir al nuevo líder de la Iglesia Católica y digno sucesor de San Pedro, el Papa.

At this historic moment, many people have their eyes fixed on the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, each one waiting for the white smoke that will indicate the election of a new Pope.

The white smoke indicates that the Cardinals have elected the successor to the deceased Pope, and the Latin phrase "Habemus Papam" (We have a Pope!) is the official announcement that a new Pope has been elected.

“Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: habemus papam”, which means “I announce great joy to you: we have a dad!”

Until the white smoke appears, the College of Cardinals of the Roman Catholic, Apostolic, and Holy Church will remain in Conclave; a word that comes from the Latin "cum clave," which means locked or behind closed doors.

Today, Christians around the world are vigil, fasting, and praying for the Holy Spirit of God to shed His light and wisdom on the cardinals so they can elect the new leader of the Catholic Church and a worthy successor to Saint Peter, the Pope.
