A moment in the cathedral

in GEMS2 days ago

For today, as I promised, a few pictures from inside of the beautiful cathedral during my trip through Aachen city, built between 796-805. The octhagonal Palatine Chapel is one of Europes finest Caroligian-Romanesque examples. In 1978 it became Germanys first UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique fusion of clasical and Byzantine traditions. Entry is free only for the choir and treasury costs 7 Euro with a guide.
