So, I am doing The 100-Day Project Challenge again; my second attempt at this creativity "habit building" exercise. You can read more at the above link; or just choose "a creative thing" to pursue for 100 consecutive days... and then use #the100dayproject as one of your first three tags so others on Hive and other social media can find you!
Today is Day 8.
Fuzzy-Headed Creativity...
Aside from understanding that my creativity levels ebb and flow, there's also the fact that I have certain pollen allergies.
In winter — when certain juniper and cedar trees throw their pollen — my eyes tend to become an itchy red mess, my sinuses clog up and I spend many days with a slightly headachy feeling. It has been a warmer than usual and sunnier winter so far, meaning that I have been having a few somewhat miserable days...
And I just don't feel like creating when I feel this way. At best, I feel like sitting in front of the computer, playing solitaire.
But I committed myself to this challenge, so onwards!
Today's Creative Endeavor:
So I gathered my fuzzy head a bit, and decided that I would at least paint a small stone, just to put something in the "finished" column.
I only find a limited number of these pale stones that are smooth enough to paint, and I always have liked how these rather "contrasty" designs turn out.
The final result pictured below; this little stone is about 1 1/4" (30mm) across.
Minding the Store(s):
Whereas I did "mind the store" today, it was one of my other eBay stores, where I had 23 auctions that sold yesterday... and getting that stuff packed up and mailed had to take priority.
So I am giving myself a "hall pass" on that one, for today!
Social Media Musings:
With the Heart Stones now moved to the "completed and current" file, I am just continuing to promote them across social media accounts.
Today, I made posts for LinkedIn, twitter/X, Facebook and Instagram, all with links to the Heart Stones "page" in the Etsy shop.
I'm able to use a "version" of linking that allows me to keep direct track of any clicks. I don't know how many exposures I need to put out there before anything happens... time will tell.
Tomorrow, I really need to get around to updating and adding a new post to the primary website/blog.
Final Thoughts for Today:
I guess I am what some would call a "bad patient," in the sense that I just don't like working — and will actively avoid doing so — when I feel less than 100%.
It is sort of weird to say that, because back when I worked in the corporate world, I was invariably one of those people who ended up with dozens of accumulated sick days I eventually felt forced to take... usually as a bit of vacation.
I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!
Thank You!
If you enjoy painted rocks, do check out The Hive Rocks Project and help spread the word about Hive, while also being creative!
Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.
Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and support!
