Since Friday, here in Greece, we are officially in a festive mood; the carnival days are here, and people are out trying to have fun and enjoy the carnival by dressing up. Tomorrow is Clean Monday, which is a significant day of celebration in Greece and marks the beginning of the fasting period until Easter. So, today was a really good day; I went on a little trip and enjoyed some amazing foods.
I went to a small traditional village that I often visit whenever I have the chance because it has an amazing view and really great food in almost every tavern you visit. After some walking around and seeing the traditional stone houses, I stumbled upon a new restaurant. This time, I decided to try out that new restaurant that opened in December. It's a beautiful hotel with all the amenities a guest would want, and the restaurant inside is like a diamond for the whole area.
Let me tell you about the dishes I ordered and ate there.
First, there was a traditional bougiourdi, but with a little twist; it had sausage added and a fried egg.
Second, I had pork kontosouvli with homemade pita, fried potatoes, and tabbouleh with yogurt. Believe me when I say it was the most lean and tender pork I have ever tasted, grilled to perfection.
Third, I had papardeles with beef cheeks. That was the most delicious dish; of course, I'm a beef lover, and every time I taste beef that is so soft, tender, and well-cooked, it's a delight.
And let's not forget the final plate to end this culinary experience, dessert: profiteroles with walnuts and patisserie cream infused with orange. It was an amazing twist.
As you can imagine, the village was great, but the food I tasted this time will be something to remember. I'm definitely going to recommend this restaurant to my friends who plan to visit the village.
The name of the hotel is Unedo and the the name of the hotels restaurant is called Kumaro.
I hope you guys are also having an amazing time.
