Vietnam was different, there was no full occupation like in Iraq war or Afghanistan. Ukraine conflict is more like Vietnam where there is a full scale war between two approximately equal armies. Except in Ukraine there is only Ukrainian army present so the only thing USA can withdraw is the weapons support, which has been doled out at a drip rate during Biden administration and the same thing under Trump now.
