The major difference today is that there is no broad international coalition and no formal authorization from Congress.

I don't know how much you hear about what's being discussed in this country. Public opinion does not support the war, so far (see the Reuters poll). And that poll was taken, I believe, before the first casualties came in.

There have been several explanations for the war. The most recent, from Rubio, is that we went in because Israel was going in. I'm not sure that is reassuring to the U.S. public.

Many of us here are horrified. Our worst fears about this president and his White House cadre are being realized in so many ways. It seems to me he had no clear purpose (or maybe he did and it was so nefarious he can't reveal it). There seems to be no clear plan for what comes next, if the Iranian regime is toppled.

Yes, I am reading that public opinion is against this war, but Trump doesn’t care about that, and he also knows that his own party doesn’t want the war. The plan is simple: just wage war, nothing more.
