I got the same feeling about some covers on Guitar Hero 3 like for All day and all of the night by the Kinks. In Guitar Hero there's an amazing guitar solo and I'm always disappointed when I can't hear it in the original version.
Anathema... I really tried to like them because my brother is a big fan but I can't. I recognize the quality and the pure composition art in their work but they just don't click with me.

Hehe, not just me then. Later version of these rhythm games stared using the original tracks, but by then I was starting to get bored of it all.

I understand this. We are complex beings and find it hard to figure out why something great to us, can't resonate with someone else. I have been kind of offended at times, but never say anything.., as I know this is the reason.
