It's been more than 10 years since my last PC update to a major version of Windows.
Since I don't change the version of an already installed Windows, except when it's practically necessary, and then Windows 10 is no longer supported at all.
Before rushing to update because my favourite programmes are out of date, I might as well do it, however risky it may be, when I have a bit of time.
And as we had to go to the doctor, and therefore be away from the PC for over an hour, I took the plunge.
I deleted a big game from the PC just to make sure I had enough space, because a test last night showed me that even though microsoft's advanced assistant confirmed that I had the right PC to switch to win11, with enough disks, it still crashed the pre-install because I didn't have enough hard disk space <- Ballsy for an ‘advanced’ assistant to miscalculate the disk space needed...
In short, I also made a backup of my HiveKeychain, not crazy the wasp ... And before going to the doctor I agreed to launch the famous update.
On the way back, after two trips to the chemist following a mistake on my part, it was almost 11.30am and I found my PC on standby... But the update hadn't been launched, just prepared.
And then, after confirmation in less than 15 minutes, it was installed.
He shouted about an update system that he considered dangerous, and here was a PC Gamer on Windows 11...
I've tested my OBS, put the settings back to how I like them, I've launched a game to test it out, it looks like I'll have to put the graphics settings back to how I like them, but otherwise everything seems to be working fine.
For the next mega-update, in my opinion, I've got a bit of time, and it'll probably be on a new-generation PC, maybe even already pre-installed in the requested version...
I'm in no hurry, though, because these machines are very expensive for my small budget.

Plus de 10 ans déjà depuis ma dernière mise à jour PC pour une version majeure de windows.
Puisque je ne change pas la version d'un windows déjà installé, sauf quand c'est quasiment nécessaire, et là windows 10 n'est plus du tout supporté.
Avant d'être dans l’empressement à devoir mettre à jour parce que mes programmes favoris ne sont plus à jour, autant faire la manoeuvre aussi risqué fut-elle quand on a un peu de temps.
Et comme nous devions aller chez le médecin, et donc être loin du PC pendant plus d'une heure, je me suis lancé.
J'ai supprimé un gros jeu du PC histoire d'être sur d'avoir la place nécessaire, car un test hier soir m'a montré que même si l'assistant avancé de microsoft confirme que j'ai le PC adéquat pour passer à win11, avec des disques en suffisance, il a quand même planté la pré-installe par manque de plus disque dur <- Culotté pour un assistant "avancé" de mal calculer la place disque nécessaire...
Bref, j'ai aussi fait un backup notamment de mon HiveKeychain, pas folle la guêpe... Et avant de partir chez le toubib j'ai accepté le lancement de la fameuse mise à jour.
Au retour, après être passé par deux fois à la pharmacie suite à une erreur de ma part, il était quasiment 11h30, j'ai retrouvé mon PC en veille... Mais la MAJ n'avait pas été lancée, juste préparée.
Et ensuite après confirmation en moins de 15 minutes, c'était installé.
Il a gueulé sur un système de mise à jour qu'il considérait comme dangereux, et voilà un PC Gamer sur windows 11...
J4ai testé mon OBS, remis les settings comme je les aime, j'ai lancé un jeu pour tester, il semblerait qu'il faudra remettre les settings graphiques un peu plus adéquat, mais sinon tout à l'air de bien fonctionner.
Pour la prochaine méga mise à jour, à mon avis, j'ai un peu de temps, et probablement que cela sera sur un PC de nouvelle génération, peut-être même déjà préinstallé dans la version demandée...
Je ne suis, cependant, pas pressé, parce que ces machines coûtent fort cher pour mon petit budget.
