This is a fascinating subject of photography that can easily be done around the house. I gathered up some snow from outside and put it on my inside window ledge to get some macro shots while its melted. I was shooting with a Nikon 60mm macro lens, which can focus quite closely and help capture these tiny little ice crystals as they continuously make different shapes and forms. I try to place snow in different spots and move things around so that I can get a variety of images to work with; many of them can be hard to get the right focus and sharp features on.
