I really find looking at coins like this to be quite fascinating. The Royal Canadian Mint does an excellent job with these designs, and every little detail is perfect in my eyes. The face value of the coin says $5, but in reality it is 1 ounce of silver, so its value would be whatever the current price is for silver, which is about 6 times the face value. With the passing of Queen Elizabeth, there will be a new face on the future coins, King Charles. I haven't seen them yet, and it will be quite a change, as for longer than I have been alive, it has been the queen on our coins in Canada. Older coins that date to when her husband, King George, was alive feature his likeness; all of those were minted well before I was born.
