I find that bees are one of the more macro-friendly insects. If you give them time and space and let them keep at their work, they won't bother you and will more often than not slow down at some point as they gather pollen and give you an opportunity to get some great macros. I also enjoy how furry they are, so in a way, they tend to be cuter than most insects. For monochrome bees like this one, they have some nice contrast as they are a great mix of light and dark so the details are still there without color.
