The Opening of Moriones Festival: Running an Errand and Witnessing Moriones Act in the Public Market with Their Cool Roman Soldier Outfit

Back when I was a kid, during the Moriones Festival, going outside was what I hated the most because these Moriones would go around scaring kids or adults. I hate it, and I can only cry and hide in my mom's back. Looking back at it now and seeing the Moriones walking here and there, they are really not scary, but I'll jump in surprise if they just appear out of nowhere, lol. How about you? ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

Moriones Festival was held yearly during Holy Week. And in our town, the opening happened last April 14. They had this parade here, and because we're living near the highway, we got to see it, and I was even able to take photos of it. There are only just a few participants this time, though. I heard there are prizes too for those who joined, I am not sure how much, though. But it's a big amount, I heard.

The Moriones also performed in public places, just like the other day, they performed in the park in front of the city hall. We didn't see it live, but I saw a video of them on Facebook doing some act and dance. Then yesterday, they were in this part of Poblacion near the public market. We just happen to see them here because we're scheduled to go visit the wet market.\(^o^)/

There are a few people watching in them. You can take photos and have selfies with them if you want. As for me, I'm really not in my best outfit, so I didn't take photos with them <( ̄︶ ̄)>. Mama is also telling me to go take a selfie with them, but when I answered, "I don't want to!" She just teased me, saying I'm just afraid, lol. Like maybe in her head, I'm still that scaredy cat who'll come running to her whenever a Morione will come at me. Seriously (╥﹏╥). It's like she doesn't know that I don't like taking photos in public places, especially if it needs some posing, lol. ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

By the way, look at this little fella here, a small Morion, lol. That little guy's also doing great with his performance. I'm sure lots of people find him cute too.

And here's all of them. The biggest number tag I saw on them is number 16. The little guy is number 3, so he's also one of them. I'm not sure where the others went, but I'm sure there are no 16 moriones in there. And i'm also sure that there's a lot more Moriones in Bansud, but they we're scattered. But well, they are having their own performance or something somewhere for sure particularly in the Park. I'm too lazy to go there. I didn't see the pretty Moriones I saw online, but even though I want to see them, it's just too hot outside that i'm too lazy to go walk to get there. Lol. How's the Moriones Festival in your town? <( ̄︶ ̄)>

Anyways, we didn't stay long in here because we still have some errands to do. We had to buy ingredients for our lunch and dinner, and so off we go! ┏(^0^)┛

Moriones pala tawag jan. Ako kahit matanda na takot pa rin jan kahit sa tv lang ako nakakakita nyan how much more kung personal. Hindi ko keri

Hahaha, ako naman nagugulat lang. Pero na tulad ng dati na di makalakad malapit sa kanila. Now kasi wala na kong paki ba, hahahaha. Or maybe kaya malakas loob ko that day coz I'm with mama 🤔😆 charissss lol

I only heard this or see this festival on the social media and it looks so cool but honestly there costumed is scary. thanks for sharing this.

Right? Really scary, especially for a kids.

As far as I know, there isn't any festival similar to this in my city or province. It would be interesting to see them with their costumes. I just feel that they look scary and mean with those masks.

Really, I think the biggest one was held in Marinduque. Then here in our province, in every municipality.

That's a unique festival, if I'm a kid now I will be afraid too because of their costume. It's a different festival than other festival in the Philippines.

So true, as I see it, it doesn't happen in some places. I check the google and the main Moriones Festival was in Marinduque. I'm not sure why Mindoro's doing this too 🤔

We don't have a Moriones festival like that in our place. It's really interesting to see how your community celebrates it and keeps the tradition alive. Thanks for sharing.

Ehhhh, and yeah, i'm also glad to experience it for a very long time every year. Though its kinda different when I was still a kid. Haha

It's always fun to experience things over and over, but there’s definitely something about how it felt when you were a kid, you were scared, haha!

Moriones Festival is a unique celebration. The costume is ok but the mask I dont like, look scary. But its a festival. The locals did there amazing performance and the kid. A must see festival in our country-Philippines.-

Yeah, and it happen during lenten season. Wala nito sa lugar nyo?

Yes wala.. And its very unique festival.

Such a unique tradition of the Philippines. Thank you for sharing these with us! A lot of things are really different from when we were kids, now that we are adults. I hope I get to experience this, too.

Yep, it'll be more awesome if other cities do this too. So that everyone can experience it ✨.

Dati takot din ako SA kanila, akala KO nangunguha Yan sila Ng pasaway na bata😬😁
