Comfort Foods and My Comforting Memories with Them: Childhood Memories and Snacks

There are times that I started to hate bread because that's the reason why Mom won't give me more cash. Like, you know how kids are when they are at school, that's where you can find every delicious foods that exist. They are all junk foods, the unhealthy one but they are really good. But sadly I don't have enough money to spend for it. I can only have bread from our bakery and seriously, I got tired of it.

But today, bread become my comfort food. I bought it whenever I crave for it. I can't taste the bread Mom and Papa made anymore but thanks to the bakeries in our area, I can still see and even taste those foods. And whenever I'll have them, all I can think was the time that my Mommy F's bakery is still in operation. I missed it really, I think that's the reason now why I always crave for it, lol.

I also remember Papa with these breads, he and Mommy F (his sister) is the baker, from making the dough to baking it. I think that's the only happy memories I have with Papa. Like, aside him being a drunkard, him as a good baker is what I remember. We're not that close to be honest, but I like the way he bake bread. Him and Mommy F, sadly I can't taste them anymore ಠಗಠ.

Still, i'm really happy to remember lots of good memories when I eat bread. Actually I eat more bread now than rice, so I also have to give limit to how much I could take per day now. I mean, I can appreciate them now, their softness and their texture. Now that we don't have source of unlimited bread, I am missing them a lot.

Hahh, how I miss Mom and Father's hot Pan de Coco and Slanish Bread. Even our neighbors will run inside our bakery just to buy them, and they would always request the perfectly baked one which has beautiful brown color on top esp pan de coco. I also miss those, I sometimes the one who'll pack them for them and they could enjoy it with their family.

Anyways, let me share more foods that takes me in a happy place I have a lot of comfort foods actually, from the healthy and unhealthiest foods. The latter was actually the best ones ♪┌|∵|┘♪. So on the left one was called Sopas, it is a creamy pasta with Milk. Then there's Tinola, we can't she this all the time before, but now we can, it's the best with rice. It will really comfort your heart.

Next is lumpia, it's puff snack. I remember Mommy D selling this in her store and it is one of my favorite together with Vinegar Pusit, Snacku, Kerei and many more. I'm sure a lot of Filipino knows those snacks I mentioned. Would you believe that Lumpia is now 3 pesos each? Then there's Zest-O, but Funchum is what's famous back the. I don't see them now though, maybe they already stop making it. It is a fruit juice yes. Glad most of them exist till now so we can stull enjoy it as a snacks or kutkutin ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ.

You presenting so many sweet and yummy temptations today reminds me that I gained quite some weight during my last family vacation because when together with my loved ones I just cannot resist to all the food they always offer me (food like you show in your post for example...). 😊
So being back as OFW in Hong Kong now might at least have one advantage: to stop gaining weight! 😆

Hahaha, omg, if they all look and smell good, even I can't resist that haha. Yeah, but i'm surely sure you'll gonna miss it again ✨🤣

Those some delicious snacks. I also love bread, all kinds, and pan de coco is one of my favorites. I can relate to how certain foods bring memorias back and it is frustrating when we can taste our favorite childhood snacks again.

Pan de coco is the best! Especially if uts freshly bake. Seriously, good memories with it can come rushing, i'll be too happy to remember them all.

This such a touching story. It's amazing how food, as simple like bread - can hold so many memories. I can feel how much you missed your Papa and Mommy, Even things are not perfect those memories in bakery are special. I'm glad your finding comfort in bread again.

Yeah, it's part of my childhood, I thought i'll forever hate it and completely erase it in my life haha. But now it become my fav snack.

Well yes, I couldn't say no to bread whenever I pass by a bakery in the neighborhood. You had a memory of bread in you that is maybe you like it as your comfort food.

The sight of those colorful bread is what's pulling us to them no haha. Can't really say no to it.

I saw hopia and I've always wondered how to make them. My mom recently made something similar and it was so good. Also, it's so crazy how lumpia even here has gone up in price. I still remember it was so cheap but now that savory snack is like 2x more expensive than when I was a kid.

Oh, hopia is really super good. I'm sure soon you can also made them, if ever you can share them here ✨💃. Oh, You also have this Lumpia in there? Whoa 😲

Wow yummy and delicious This is why it's nice to have snacks or hidden food.

Food is life no!

Wow! You have lots of comfort food and that's nice! Yummy as well.
