I joined an evening walk with my friend and his dogs to a calm rice field near his house in South Denpasar, kind of like a peaceful break in the middle of the busy city. It's a place where you can feel tranquility and, for a moment, set aside problems in life.
It's a regular thing for him to walk his two dogs on this small rice farm along the short road. One dog is cute, and the other one, not so much; she was a stray he saved.
My friend was walking his two dogs, I joined him at the back.
We enjoyed the stroll while looking at the rice field filled with water, and the reflections of faraway houses on the water looked mesmerizing. The sky gradually changed to orange as the sun was setting. The evening colors made everything look nice.
The evening color was beautiful.
The contrast of the black clouds and the orange sky make the view even more beautiful.
My friend used to be active as a tour guide like me but had to stop working 15 years ago. He got very ill. He never fully recovered; he sometimes goes back to guiding for short tours despite what his doctor said. His wife helped with money in the past. Now that she is retired, my friend sometimes voiced his worry about their financial future.
He let the dog played while he was checking his phone.
His youngest daughter is in the process of starting a flower shop. Hence, he's learning to arrange flowers to make bouquets for sale. He hopes that this will help his finances in the future.
My friend believes that God helps and that money comes when his family needs it. He thinks everyone has the blessing of wealth given by the universe or the spiritual force. I just listened and nodded.
Well, he is a resilient person. And despite his sickness, he has helped a lot of people in the past, including me. He is a great friend.
His playful dogs made things even more fun. I played a bit with the cute dod. But I don't know what kind of dog it is. I am not a dog person. Maybe you can tell me? If so, please comment.
The cute dog
The dogs were ready to go home.
As it got darker, we walked back home, following the lights from houses that illuminated the road.
the lights from the houses lights our path home.
