Life Update on Monday: “Water Source has Drained”

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY6 months ago (edited)

Hello friends, how are you today? This week was a very tiring week because we didn’t have a water. I hope that this drought will end soon and it’ll rain heavily. Our source of water is terribly draining. It was forecasted that it’ll rain today, but until now, it doesn’t happen. If this will continue, the people of Butuan will surely leave the place and look for a neighboring city with an abundant water. If I were to choose between water and electric, of course, water is life. A person can die without water to drink for seven days.

Yesterday, we were so happy that there was a water they brought door to door. We gathered all of our containers. The plastic containers of my baby’s distilled water are reused. These plastic containers have helped us a lot to save water. The lesson here is to keep the recyclable trashes because they will be used in the future. We should also save our waters even if no drought because everybody is using it and our population is increasing day by day. Every drop of the water is precious.

Water Affected Rice Production

Everyone was taking a bath yesterday and washed the clothes. After that, we went to the rice barns to buy sacks of rice. My mother had started her business to sell sacks of rice because every person needs it. We Asians can’t live without it. Even if the table is plenty of foods, our tummy still seeks a rice because we used to eat it since we were babies. Because it is our daily need, it is wise to make it a business. First, we went to a nearby barn so we could ask a cheaper price of 50 kilograms rice on one sack. Unfortunately, their cashier was absent. The caretaker didn’t know the price.

Inside the barn are the sacks of rice piled up and rice mill. They deliver these sacks at the stores, malls and in every household that are their old customers. It was just so unlucky that we forgot it was Sunday, that they didn’t have their employees.

Their cashier left her lists of customers to be delivered the rice. They have a lot on the list. Of course, because everyone needs it excluding the other countries who are not used to it. The owner of this barn is one of the richest people here in Butuan. In fact, he always gather poor people every Christmas at his house and give them money. There was a time when the thieves tresspassed his house, but he just gave his money calmy and happily. The theives just left like a normal person who left his home.

Because we could not buy rice at that barn, we looked for another rice mill. We went to the nearby barangay of Taligaman. Sadly, they closed their barn as they could not grind rice because there is no water. I can’t believe that the farmers also need water to process a fine rice. Water is really important in all aspects. The farmer businesses are massively affected in El Nino.

How about your place? Is it raining there?

Following Typhoon Aghon, the water utility company must clean the pipes that became submerged in the flooded area, resulting in water interruptions. Although the flow from our faucets is like a child's pee, one advantage of being on a main road is that we still have access to water. At this point, we are grateful that our faucets still deliver water. 🌷🕊️

It also happens here friend that we also lose water supply during typhoon. Sometimes, we won't lose water but it's not clear kay lubog. Very hassle here sa Butuan during typhoon and El Nino. According to an issue, the local government is very corrupt for only using low grade materials at the dam.

It's raining here right now, hopefully it's raining where you are too. Agriculture depends heavily on water, so I hope the government would give programs that support this industry, especially during drought.

Where do you live friend? I heard on tv that there's typhoon in Luzon.

I'm from Cavite and it's been raining here for few days now.

Yes I heard it from the news. While we're suffering the El Nino, there is also a typhoon in Luzon.

A Lack of water is one of a biggest problem that a human can face. Nakaka lungkot kapag ganyan, ang init na nga tapos wala pa g tubig aguy ah.

Oo super hassle friend. Ilang araw na naming hinintay ang ulan ngunit wala pa rin.

Water problem has always been a problem every summer; which is not supposed to.

It already started to rain in some places, hope in yours sooner!

Hopefully it will. Well, it's only this year that it happened. The summer this year is hotter than before. We have 46 degrees celsius here in Butuan.

Aww. But here in our place, Zambales, it's already raining. I hope it rains there too. 🌧️
