When my husband saw the ads for a Depeche Mode tribute concert, featuring Enjoy the Symphony, an orchestral reinterpretation of their classic hits, he was right away elated. He told me we would be attending. I was equally thrilled because we have always loved Depeche Mode’s music! This would be our very first concert to watch in Dubai. The enthusiasm started to rise as soon as we verified our tickets.

The day of the concert we made sure to show up early. Our goal was to get a good parking and keep away from the worry of coming late. The concert was at Zabeel Theatre in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. A venue whose reputation alone sparked our anticipation. When we came, we learn the parking lot was full. After a quick hoop around the area, luck was on our side when a car finally vacated a spot, giving us the perfect place to park.

We immediately made our way to Zabeel Theatre, excitement buzzing between us after we parked. A crew member kindly informed us that the doors would open precisely at 7:30 pm. So we wandered around the area while waiting for the time.

The outdoor area of Zabeel Saray was alluring. A fountain gleamed under the evening lights. The palm trees and adorned lanterns cast a smooth glow across the walkway. The hotel’s front accent arched architecture and intricate detailing seemed almost magical. We paused to take a few photos. Using the illuminated entrance as our backdrop, feeling like we had stepped into a world of elegance and charm.

The hotel only intensifies our wonder when we step in. The white floral settings added a fine touch to the worldly style. We didn’t delve the whole hotel. We walked around the lobby and nearby hallways. We're fully taken in by the style and atmosphere. It was time to go to the venue. The walk took us through a series of arched paths their ceilings were high and adorned with gleaming chandeliers. It ideally sets the tone for the musical trip ahead.

Inside the theatre, the stage was already alive with energy. Bright blue lights illuminated the space, adding energy and drama as the orchestra and band prepared to perform. When the concert began we were fully enticed. The blend of electronic music with orchestral arrangements was enticing. It respired fresh depth and emotion into songs we had loved for years. Songs like Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus, and our favorite Just Can’t Get Enough packed the room with a rich stacked sound that was both wistful and fresh. When Just Can’t Get Enough played, my husband and I along with everyone jumped to our feet, danced and sang along gayly. The vigour in the room was catching and we couldn’t withstand taking selfies to seize our joy. That night was memorable. My husband and I walked out the theatre with hearts full of joy of the melodies we had just heard. Echoes of Depeche had truly lived up to its name, leaving memories we will cherish forever.
