May 19th ➡️ May 26th, 2025This challenge requires us all to slow down and zoom in to the world around us. You will need a sharp and eye and steady hands, but definitely not a zoom lens because a smartphone and deep breaths are enough to capture some good close-ups. Whether it be an insect in the backyard or even something as a mundane as a pencil tip, the right angle can make any macro shot engaging.
Macro photography is generally defined as any shot with a 1:1 ratio or higher, so things like flowers, insects, even portions of larger objects all work well as macro subjects. As I write this, I see some broken glass lining the fence top near my room, and I realize this would probably make for some great macro shots when the sun is shining through them.

This challenge made me realize how important friendships are in Southeast Asia. As an American, I tried hard to maintain one-way friendships from childhood until the present, but I am left with only a couple of casual friends, and I alone am tasked with keeping the friendship alive. I think the work-life balance in this part of the world allows more time for loved ones and family. There were far more awesome entries for this one than I have selected for the winners' cirlce.

Upon seeing the ASEAN Hive Community Challenge 158 this week, I got excited and decided to participate. The topic is called Forever Friends. Perhaps I've talked about my besties here in the past, but I'd like to share stories of our friendship. Let's start! :) Despite going to multiple schools in elementary, high school and university, I actually only kept in touch with a few people. When I see others by chance, I don't hesitate to say hello and catch up. I'm not picky when it comes to people, but I prefer being with someone I'm comfortable with.

My entry for the wonderful activity of sir @justinparke is for the friends that I didn't have. But my daughter @katsuki29 is so blessed to have this friends. I remember when she was on her elementary days, she has no close friends. So her junior and senior high school days were one of the best she had. Our elementary school has only one section for each grade. So her classmates have since kindergarten are the same classmates she had until they graduate grade six.

The beauty of life is somehow unpredictable in some cases. And a solid example of that is the little details of how we meet the people we now call friends. Some get a lot of friends to keep and some choose to keep their circle small. In our younger days, we love to keep everybody our friend. But later on in life we realize, having a trusted few is enough to make us sane in giving us deep and sensible conversation, hang-out with over good food or just a latte with pastry; travel and see other corners of the world; kneel alongside us in professing our faith; truthfully correct us
