Wax gourd is a type of vegetable that looks a lot like a gourd. It is known as Chaal Kumra or roof pumpkin in our vernacular. Because it was regionally customary that such vegetables were caught in the house rooftop, they were called chal kumra. We know that vegetables are an essential food ingredient that is a part of every meal we have. Vegetables are a very important and essential ingredient especially in our country as staple food rice and curries with rice. Therefore, vegetables are a very important and essential part of daily diet in our country. Moreover, the demand for vegetables in the market is very high, so the price of vegetables is very high depending on the season, so in order to meet the family needs, every house in the village grows different types of vegetables. Our house is no exception. Every year my mother or father plant different vegetables in our house to meet our family needs.
This is a wax gourd garden. These plants were planted by my mother next to our two big mango trees and they grew up on the mango trees. Now these plants are showing small wax gourd along with many beautiful flowers which are very beautiful to look at. It is a vegetable in high demand in our country. Moreover, it is a very nutritious and tasty vegetable. Anyway to meet our family needs this tree was planted by my father at home and the trees grew quite big. We have a few species of vegetables plants here, of which this one is a bit of an exception and is cut into the plant and the wax gourd are very gourd-shaped.
However, after planting the plants have grown quite tall and are currently showing a few flowers as well as some small wax gourd that has grown to a slightly larger size. Which you can see in the photography. Anyway I try to water the plant every now and then as the plants start to flower. I like plants and vegetable plants very much because if you have vegetable plants at home, fresh vegetables can be cooked as curries and fresh foods are very tasty to eat.
