In our backyard garden, we have different varieties of papaya that bring happiness to our family. This simple fruit is very important to us because we use it in many ways. Sometimes, we cook the green papaya as a vegetables dish and other time we enjoy the ripe ones as a sweet dessert. Papaya ha always been one of our favorite fruits at home.
I started planting papaya because it grows fast and doesn’t need to much care. I don’t even dry the seeds, after eating the fruit, I simply take the seeds and put them in a pot with soil. A few days after, they start to sprout. When the seedlings become tall and strong. I transfer the, to the ground in our backyard. It’s always exciting to watch how the small seeds turn into tall, green trees full of fruits.
In our farm, papaya trees grow well because the soil is soft and the area gets plenty of sunlight. My husband helps me water the plants early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Sometimes my little one joins us, happily playing in the soil while I check the leaves for insects. Seeing our small family work together in the garden gives me peace and joy.
Papaya is not just delicious but also very healthy. It’s full of vitamins 1 and C, which help make our body strong. It also helps with digestion and keeps the skin healthy. Even the leaves have any uses, some people boil them for tea to help with fever or ow platelets.
In our kitchen, green papaya is often used for dishes like tinola or any recipe with malunggay leaves. The ripe ones are perfect for snacks or desserts. Sometimes I slice the, cold from the fridge or mix the, with milk for refreshing treat or we make candy jelly from papaya. This fruit is truly a blessing because it give both food and health benefits to our family.
When our papaya trees start bearing many fruits, we don’t waste any of them. Some are sold in our neighborhood, and others we give away to my in-laws and neighbors. Sharing our harvest always brings smiles, and it feels good to know we can help others enjoy fresh and healthy fruits. When the fruits are more than enough, we sell the, at the local market which helps us earn a little extra income for our family needs.
Planting papaya is very easy. After eating fruit, just collect the seeds and plant them directly in pots or containers with soil. Water the, highly but regularly. Once the seedlings reach about one foot tall, transfer the, to the ground where they can get full sunlight. Make sure the soil drains well because papaya does not like too much water. In around six to eight months, flowers and fruits will start to appear, that’s when the excitement truly begins.
Gardening has taught me many lessons about life. When we plant a papaya tree, we are not just growing food, we are also growing patience. Every fruit reminds me that with hard work and faith, blessings will come in time. Whether we sell, share or eat what we harvest, the most important thing is to be thankful for what the nature gives us.
