A tapas moment
Last week I promised myself to not go for tapas every day as I made sure we had enough groceries for every meal while my boyfriend was on a business trip and well, that would probably be expensive enough without me going for tapas. Of course, after a few days of her joining me on two walks a day to get my blood flowing, I wanted to take her for a little treat.
We were walking in our t-shirts and I bet I gained a bit of colour that afternoon, it was no surprise that our nearest tapa place was filled with locals, loudly chattering while enjoying a beer and tapa. There was just one free table so I told her, let's have a drink!
Zumo de melocoton, por favor!
Finally, trying the pulled pork sandwich
My boyfriend joined me for a few breakfast moments here and we noticed that their tapas list always mentioned "pulled pork on bao bread, or something like that" which made me curious because I love pulled pork and I also like bao bread so I had to try that one day. Yet we didn't manage to go there for tapas in the afternoon and in the evening it's not that appealing as it's very small inside with bar stools only.
I also thought (looking at the list of tapas) that it would become a struggle with the lady because of her stubbornness with food. But as she left that girl behind in 2023 and we are dealing with version 2.0, I figured maybe I can motivate her to just try something somewhere new. I was right!
Grilled chicken it is!
As they also had a grilled chicken tapa, I motivated her to try that one while I would try the pulled pork and then we could both taste them. She said yes right away, I couldn't believe it, lol. My plate arrived earlier and when I ate it I decided to mention she likes stew and this is something she definitely likes too, I'm sure. She took a bite and was sold, she wanted one of these as well after her first plate, lol.
After some waiting, the chicken arrived and I have to say it was nice too, not too dry but just right. She agreed and even though she liked my tapa better, she finished her plate. Great!
I told her to let me take a picture of her trying something new as these are moments I cherish after 7 years of trouble with that issue. We always want to share these and this picture had to be sent to dad who was still away for a few more days. Look at that cheeky face.. I love her :)
A little time pressure
As we went for walks after lunch, and had to be back before 4 as her tutor was coming to help her with school stuff, time was a bit tight and therefore we ordered just one new pulled pork plate which we cut in half to share.
That was a good thing because when we arrived home, we already saw her tutor at the gate, who happened to be early that day.. Even though it was just a little hour enjoying tapas in the sun, we had a good walk and the day was great. Memorable moments to cherish..
Which is your favourite dish if you go for tapas? Of course, that is if you ever do :)
