RE: Big Dog's sore paw

in Outdoors and more4 months ago

This was a very enjoyable read. Thank you. I am sure it was not an enjoyable situation for you but - you managed it well. Big Dog sounds like a great vehicle but also like it's got quite a bit of electronics in it. That's something we are a little wary of. In today's modern vehicles there are sooo many electronics, some really useful - no doubt, but so much more that can break in an instant, right? And in that case, it is good to have a great mechanic at hand - as you do. We have come to trust our local shop with our now 16 year old, small for American standards truck, an Xterra. We really like it but we're kind of getting used to the thought that we'll need another one sooner or later. Unfortunately. Xterras were discontinued in 2015 (?). We'd get another one in a heartbeat.

I hope you get to enjoy many more offroad trips with Big Dog AND your girl and live to tell us about it 😃

Less enjoyable for me, that's for sure, but it's a good story to tell to my mates. (I'll embellish it more and more and by the last telling it'll be so far-fetched no one will believe me! Lol.

I agree with the electronics thing, it's an issue. I like older trucks, like pre-1982, with less electronics but to have a new car these days one needs to buy...well, a new car. I'm thinking of building an early Ford F100 or F150 one of these days, late 1970,s or early 1980. It'll be nothing special visually but super tough and reliable. I'll get it done one day.

Many more trips will happen, Big Dog is good as new and raring to go. I'm sure I'll survive most of those trips to tell the story afterwards and on this trips on which I die...well, those stories will be even better! 😁
