That must have been a shit road back home going so slow and trying to be extra careful with Big Dog. Sounds like a hella vehicle to me, must have been some crazy off roading to sheer of those bolts and put a gimp to it. Glad you made it back to tell the story though. I am sure your partner is as well.
Well, I didn't really do much at all, got some flex into it a few times as about all; I never bush bash and am a pretty damned good four wheeler. It was loose though, (allegedly) and with the additional work I put it to and all...pushed it over the edge...bolt came out and the other sheered off with the strain of the anti roll bar flexing on it.
All good though, stuff like this has happened before and like I said, I'm prepared. Doing out there isn't my idea of fun and neither is the shame of having to be rescued - I prefer self-reliance.
I hope you're well.
Semper Fi.
Yeah, I was going to say also, that an average person wouldn't be as prepared. Having a satphone is a little above average for most. The average guy would have been screwed.
Thanks, I am well and getting better each day.
Being better each day is a good way to be man, I work on doing the same; fail sometimes, but don't we all?
And yeah, being ill-prepared is one of my pet hats man, can't stand the feeling and so I work on it.
Yep, I have done my fair share of failing. But it is all about learning from and not repeating failures, right? My biggest challenge now is to get my fat ass moving and exercising again more. Just have to do it cautiously else I end up horizontal with a few bumps and bruises. Not that that bothers me too much, my entire body is one big bruised organ, but the wife doesn't care for it. I don't need her grief! I'd rather be dressed down by a drill instructor than hear it from her.
Yep, that's how it is...failing more helps one achieve more...if lessons are learned of course.
Look after yourself, you'd hardly want to face the good lady's wrath!
For sure, I'd prefer to go ass first up a cactus than face her being pissed at me.
