Quiero que esta iniciativa sea infinita, creo que llegaria a envejecer y no terminaba aún de seguir participando, son tantos video, tantas canciones, tanto de que hablar referente a una de las destrezas artísticas como lo es la música, ojo no cualquier música, la buena música. Así que sigo aprovechando la iniciativa y hoy les traigo un video musical con un regalo de paz hecha música, solo te digo una cosa si no has conocido la forma de encontrar paz a tu alrededor, solo escucha esta canción y santo remedio, literalmente o al menos para mi esta canción es la paz, por favor te ruego que la escuches y la sientes de todo corazón.
Listening to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in the voice of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, or simply “Iz”, is like embracing the soul. His version not only transforms the song, it elevates it. With that soft ukulele and his unique voice, as big as his heart, he manages to convey a peace that few songs in life manage to give you no matter how many times you listen to it.
Escuchar “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” en la voz de Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, o simplemente “Iz”, es como abrazar el alma. Su versión no solo transforma la canción, la eleva. Con ese ukelele suave y su voz tan única, tan grande como su corazón, logra transmitir una paz que pocas canciones en la vida consiguen darte sin importar cuántas veces la escuches.
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was born in 1959 in Hawaii. He was more than a singer: he was a symbol for his people. He always fought for Hawaiian culture, for justice for his people, for keeping alive the essence of the island. He was loved not only for his music, but for his spirit: kind, generous, full of light. He suffered from morbid obesity at a very young age, something that seriously affected his health. In his last years, he needed oxygen to breathe. Even so, he continued singing, giving everything he could with his voice.
She passed away in 1997, only 38 years old. When she died, Hawaii stopped. His casket was taken to the State Capitol, and more than 10,000 people came to see him off. His ashes were scattered at sea, and his song could be heard as the sun went down.
Israel Kamakawiwo’ole nació en 1959 en Hawái. Fue más que un cantante: fue un símbolo para su pueblo. Iz did not sing for the sake of singing, he sang from a sincere place, full of love for his land, for the people, for life. There is something in her voice that cannot be explained with words. It is sweet and melancholic at the same time. It is as if he already knew that his passage through the world would be brief, but that his voice would remain forever. What I like most about the way of making music of this great icon of the island of Hawaii is the natural, obviously starting from the fact that they are surrounded by nature, but most of all I mean to be surrounded by his people, it's like you live by the sea and you have a neighbor singer and he says "Come on everyone come out and sing, you are my people, I want you to sing with me" something so humble that is priceless.
Iz no cantaba por cantar, cantaba desde un lugar sincero, lleno de amor por su tierra, por la gente, por la vida. Hay algo en su voz que no se puede explicar con palabras. Es dulce y melancólica al mismo tiempo. Es como si él ya supiera que su paso por el mundo sería breve, pero que su voz quedaría para siempre. Lo que más me gusta de la forma de hacer música de este gran icono de la isla de Hawai es lo natural, obviamente partiendo de de que están rodeados de naturaleza, pero más que todo me refiero a estar rodeado de su gente, es como que vivas a la orilla del mar y tengas un vecino cantante y te diga "Vengan salgan todos y cantemos, ustedes son mi gente, quiero que canten conmigo" algo tan humilde que no tiene precio.
The video is not very professionally edited, but what I like is that it shows real fragments of some moments of the singer with his people and the beautiful atmosphere of the island that surrounds them. Every time I hear “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in his voice, I feel that Iz is not completely gone. She is there, floating in the wind, reminding us that there is still beauty, that there are still dreams... and that hope is always worthwhile. Finally, I would like to highlight that last part of the video when they scatter his ashes in the sea, an emotional farewell from the people who truly loved him, literally the first time I saw that scene, tears came to my eyes.
El video no tiene una edicion muy profesional que digamos, pero lo que me gusta es que muestra fragmentos reales de algunos momentos del cantante junto a su gente y el hermoso ambiente de la isla que los rodea. Cada vez que escucho “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” en su voz, siento que Iz no se fue del todo. Está ahí, flotando en el viento, recordándonos que todavía hay belleza, que todavía hay sueños… y que la esperanza siempre vale la pena. Ya para culminar resalto esa ultima parte del video cuando esparcen sus cenizas en el mar, una emotiva despedida por parte de la gente que lo amo de verdad, literalmente la primera ves que vi esa escena se me salieron las lagrimas.
