Hi everyone, welcome to my blog once again.
Stumbled on this not quite long and I love the question thrown for this week. Much love 💕

What are sustainable environment and sustainable practices?

A sustainable environment is the responsibility to conserve natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support health and well-being.

Sustainable practices in daily life involve making mindful choices that reduce our impact on the environment.

How can we introduce a sustainable practice into our daily routine?

Below are the tips for achieving this routine:

  • Responsible production and consumption: Make an effort to reduce your waste by minimizing single-use items, reusing items when possible, and recycling materials that can be repurposed, such as paper, plastic, glass aluminum, etc

Items are: Used plastic bottles, gum, needle, thread, and chair cloth.

  • Conservation of energy: Turn off lights and electronics when not in use, use energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and consider using a programmable thermostat to reduce energy consumption. Use a pre-paid meter.
  • Clean water and sanitation: This is learning to avoid wasting water. Fix leaks, take shorter showers, install low-flow fixtures, and consider collecting rainwater for outdoor use to conserve water.
  • Sustainable cities and communities: biking, walking, or using public transportation whenever it is possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save on fuel costs. Especially in Nigeria, where fuel is too expensive.
  • Use local and organic produce: Purchase locally grown organic produce to support local farmers, reduce the environmental impact of transporting food long distances, and avoid harmful pesticides.
  • Reduce meat consumption: Eating less meat, especially red meat, can help reduce your carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable food system.
  • Choose reusable and eco-friendly products: Switch to reusable water bottles, coffee cups, shopping bags, and other items to reduce waste and avoid single-use plastic products.
  • Compost organic waste: Start a compost bin for food scraps and yard waste to reduce landfill waste and create nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Separate your waste properly before you trash it like plastics, papers, glass, etc so that it can easily be recycled.

  • Educate yourself and others: Stay informed about environmental issues, and share your knowledge with friends and family on the do's and don'ts of a sustainable environment.

Educating my students on sustainable practices.

  • Climate action is acting now to stop global warming and advocate for policies that promote sustainable practices on a larger scale. Everyone needs to promote the land.
  • Life below water, avoid the use of paper or plastic bags to keep the ocean clean. Don't defecate in the ocean or sea to avoid flooding.
  • Life on land: planting more trees helps to protect the environment. It also saves energy and cleans the air.
