That was the first call that bonded us together

You don't know me, but I know you," the voice said over the phone, It was during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year, a compulsory one-year service for Nigerian graduates. That's when the mysterious call came in. I picked up, expecting it to be a friend or family member. Instead, a low, unfamiliar voice spoke on the other end. "You don't know me, but I know you," the voice said, sending a shiver down my spine.

Before I could respond or ask who it was, the line went dead. This caller has been calling for a week now😒 I was left staring at my phone, wondering who could have made that call. Had I given my number to someone and forgotten? How did they get my contact information? I was lost in this thought till I finally slept off. To be candid, I was scared because I was in a strange land and I didn't know who had been monitoring my movement🤔

The next morning, I was suddenly awake by my phone ringing, I picked up, and my heart skipped a beat as I heard the same voice on the other end. "You don't know me, but I know you." My mind racing, I tried to stay calm, but my voice trembled as I asked, "Who is this?"

There was a pause, and for a moment, I thought the line had gone dead again. But then, the voice spoke up, revealing a shocking truth that would change everything. The mysterious caller was Moyo, a fellow graduate of my university. We had been in different departments within the same faculty of science but had never met or spoken during our time on campus.

Moyo had been a silent admirer since my 100-level days and had somehow managed to get my phone number. The calls were his way of breaking the silence. However, my major concern is knowing why this guy has been calling using that tone; I was curious about his intentions. As we started talking, I discovered that he was a kind and gentle soul, who had been too shy to approach me during our university days. But it is too late!

Looking back, I realize that the mysterious calls were a blessing in disguise. They led me to someone who had been admiring me from afar, and we've formed a connection that I cherish deeply. I was grateful that he had finally found the courage to reach out since all these while and in his words, he just wanted to try his luck. We've since become good friends, bonding over the tone YOU don't know ME but I know YOU.

Moyo has been a good friend to my family ever since then.

My question is, why is it difficult for men to speak up at times?
Feel free to share your reasons with me in the comment section.

Thank you

Because ladies tend to brother zone or friend zone them and it's difficult to come out of that zone🤣🤣

Lols, but not saying anything will cost a huge price, and it will be too late to reclaim like Moyo.

If he had spoken up, maybe something would have happened between us 🤣🤣

Don't be a coward, go for what you like 💯

😃😃

Funny right?
He lost a precious soul like me as a result of fear of unknown 🤣🤣

Good job!

Thank you, dear

A pleasure! 🙏

My question is, why is it difficult for men to speak up at times?

The answer is simple: because women find it hard to listen.

My first relationship was toxic, my girlfriend was one of those girls who had an answer for everything. She talked and talked; when it came to giving her opinion, she didn't like to hear anything that contradicted her. After more than 45 years, I have been told that she is the same, overbearing, and alone…

Not all women can be rated the same and not all men are mean too. This issue is vice versa👌
I'm so sorry she is like that to you.

However, speaking up about your affection for the one you love should not be a problem for men, even women can try their luck in expressing their feelings too.

Thank you for stopping by

He has not been my partner for 45 years, thank God. We are clear that we cannot cut both genders with the same knife.

Exactly

Why was it too late ? Better late than never.
Thou some men are sacared.

He could have opened up longtime ago and maybe I would have considered him🤣🤣
