A lot has happened in the Splinterlands ecosystem in the past few weeks. I'd like to share my opinions on some of these matters. Not that I have a strong voice in this but we're in a decentralized community and being able to share your thoughts and opinion openly is one of its most important perks.
DHF Proposal
Splinterlands has recently submitted a DHF Proposal asking for additional funding. It is for a total of 500,000 HBD that will be paid over six months. I 100% support this and I also initially thought that it will pass easily given how Splinterlands is the biggest gaming project in Hive.
But three days in and we've only gathered half of the required votes to pass. I've read through the comments and it appears that people are divided whether or not to support this. Most of the Splinterlands players are focused on in-game assets and collectively, the Hive power we hold is nowhere near adequate to pass the proposal. And some may argue that Splinterlands is its own thing, but in the height of the popularity, Splinterlands brought thousands of new Hive accounts to the ecosystem. And even if the majority of those players did not interact with Hive much, there were still a lot of Splinterlands blog post activities going on.
And even now where the market sentiment is bearish, many Splinterlands players still interact with Hive. Even in the daily token transactions, majority of it is consisted of Splinterlands assets. So in summary, I believe that it is in the best interest of Hive to help Splinterlands succeed, and the DHF proposal is one of the most effective ways that it can show its support and I sincerely hope it passes.
Discontinuing Vouchers
There are currently two ongoing Splinterlands proposals regarding vouchers. They are from Cryptoeater and The People's Guild.
Cryptoeater's proposal intends to stop all voucher emissions and convert existing tokens into DEC-B while The People's Guild wants to change the utility of voucher to an exclusive voucher shop. And it looks like The People's Guild's version is the one favored by the community but I personally would like to totally end the emission of vouchers. And I find Bulldog's solution to be more practical. It is to simply stop all voucher emissions but still retain all current uses for it. This will eventually deplete all vouchers in circulation over time without using additional company resources to create new cards or convert tokens.
And with the potential changes happening to vouchers, I personally plan to buy some vouchers and add battlewagons to my inventory. I only have one currently and I don't think I will participate in the remaining Rebellion conflicts. But since the team has said that wagons will have future use cases after Rebellion, this is the most opportune time to stock up as vouchers are at an all-time low.
