I Like Cards

in Splinterlands21 hours ago

Some players in recent days have been selling their legacy cards at a reasonable discount relative to current prices. With very limited legacy cards in public market I went ahead and may a few purhases.

In total over $250 of cards in cards. This is approximately 5% of my overall current value of my collection, but my main reason of getting them was because I thought they were a steal.

Here are snapshot of my first purchases of 2025.

A legendary rebellion card! My first and its max level. A decent tanker and I tried it a few times, but still getting use to. It seems it works well when stacked against strong melee attackers.

A couple of beta summoners but these are max level. I have finally after all these years got Alric and Tyrus at max level to use. These will supersede my level 7 and 6 respective summoner cards. I may relinquish those lower level in the future if I see card prices start to rise.

A high mana but also strong monster. I have the water version of Runemancer and like it a lot. I have patiently been waiting for the earth one to hit a price that I would be willing to snatch one.

For a couple of dollars to get a max level copy I went ahead and spent my precious DEC. I think it has some good use with the Enrage ability.

This legacy beta card has been a staple in many of my formations. I have so much fond memories using my level 5 version that I have bought this one just went I saw it at a price I could afford. I may have still overpaid it but memories cannot have a price tag.

Similar to Earth Elemental is the legacy common card Flesh Golem. The card is likely obsolete in today's gameplay but I have fond memories of wanting this card at max level. I had been using a level 4 gold foil beta version that I won from a raffle long long ago from @clove71. Brings back good memories.

To top it off I went and added three more legendary max level cards. The Chao's Immortalis, which is very useful against magic decks. Then there are two Untamed cards in Dark Ha'on and The Vigilator. The later will come in great in dragon formation. Meanwhile the Dark Ha'on is still a card I put into play from time to time. Having all these cards at max level just boosts my formation that much more.

If you have not noticed a majority of my purchases fall under the earth splinter. This was done somewhat on purpose to raise my earth collection value to be closer to the other splinters.

In total I have approximately $800 in present value of each splinter, except for close to double that in water. I still love the magic in water, but adding more earth balances out my options.

Talk about markdown. That Flesh Golem went on sale at one point in its life at $678. Of course that is likely years ago but now I bought it for barely over $30. Could it fall some more, maybe but I am going to be playing with these cards for many years to come.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Prices have come down quite a bit, but I think some people are just deciding to stop after the changes to the modern format. Maybe they are taking the time to get rid of some of those legacy cards because it might be the best chance as wild is free this season.
