Hello Readers,
Not long ago, the Splinterlands launched the long-awaited Land Update 1.75, and a Hype around Lands is growing again, with thousands of players and investors transacting actively in Land Farming and Swapping those Resource Tokens. If you are also among them and getting carried away with the Splinterlands land expansion like I am, you must have thought about beginning or adding to your current land activity. If you are new to Lands and thinking of buying a piece of land plot and starting an amazing journey, then you should know about the Starter Package that you can buy when you survey your land deed. So in today’s post, allow me to break it all down in a super easy way, with just what you need to know about Land Farming, just to get ahead of the crowd and make the most out of your land.
Starter Package
After you own a Land claim token and finally decide to collect your brand new Land Plot, then in order to begin resource production on your Land, you have to perform a Survey first. When you survey a land deed in Splinterlands, you get a one-time chance while performing the purchase transaction to grab up to three Starter Packages. Each one of these costs 10,000 DEC or DEC-B tokens, and you can only buy one of each per deed. But here’s the catch - you have only got 60 days after land surveying releases to utilize them. Because after that, they will be gone for good.
Now talking about Starter Packages, these one-time production booster packages give you serious advantages when you start working on your land. No matter if you want to start building faster, harvest resources quicker, or boost your output temporarily, these packages have the required power to make it easier and trust me, starting without them will be missing out on a profitable deal. It's like trying to farm with your bare hands.
Building in a Box
Want to skip the Expensive Startup cost that you have to spend in order to begin the resource production for the first time on a Land Plot, then try choosing the Building in a box item from the starter package. The Building in a Box package allows you to begin construction on a level 1 building for absolutely free. As you have already paid the 10k DEC to buy this Building in a Box item, no extra materials or DEC are needed for the build itself. Normally, you would have to collect and spend a bunch of Wood, Stone, and other stuff just to get started, which may be solved simply by using this item when surveying your land plot.
Now, no doubt that the construction will still take some time, and you still need worker cards staked on the plot, both of which are a must-have. But while others will get stuck waiting for resource materials to build anything on their land, you will already be halfway done with your first building. If compared, even a level 1 building will give you a resource production boost enough to notice compared to having nothing built at all. That early advantage could be huge, especially when resources are scarce and prices on the market go wild, following their crypto characteristics. Please remember that it can be used even if a land plot has a Castle or keep on it, where the Power Source can be used in phase 1.5 and a free building will get applied to the first level upgrade of the Castle or Keep building, while we are in Land phase 2.
Time Vault
Loved the Time Stone from the Avengers? Well, on Splinterlands Lands, we have something close, which is named The Time Vault package. It is one of my favorites among the starter package items, because it is straight-up time-saving for you and also cheap to buy.
150 Time Crystals (worth 15,000 DEC)
15,000 Grain (also worth 15,000 DEC)
That’s 30,000 DEC worth of stuff for just 10,000 DEC. Not a bad deal at all.
The Time Crystals item helps you to speed up construction time, not by reducing time directly, but actually by lowering how many Production Points are needed. That’s super helpful when you are clearing land for the first time, as it came after phase 1.5, or when phase 2 hits with all its new building projects.
Since the beginning phase of our Land journey, we should focus on Grain, because it is an Essential resource that provides food and keeps your summoned workers active. Without it, they can not do anything and the land becomes unproductive. In the early days, players who didn’t have Grain would have to buy it at 1 DEC per token rate, which adds up fast, because there was no resource swap facility. But if you have decided to buy this package, then you are already ready from the start. In addition to that, both the Time Crystals and Grain from this package are fully tradable, in case you change your mind. You can decide to either sell them, swap them, or hold onto them until prices rise, so no tension with that!
Unstable Totem
The Unstable Totem package is a powerhouse that gives your land plot a temporary 2x production boost for the next 30 days, right when phase 2 drops. Now this is what I call perfect timing, because early resources are going to be in super high demand and short supply. Now, just think of having double the output while others are still working hard after them. Now, it is upon you, whether you use it to stockpile, sell, or pour more power into your first few builds, this month-long head start can make a big difference for you. Just like the Building in a Box item, this totem is tied to the Land deed you bought it with and activates automatically during phase 2. As you can’t save it for later, make sure your land is ready when it kicks in.
My Land Activity
I only have one grain-producing Land plot right now and I activated it after a long time and started producing again. Right now, I am producing a decent amount of Grain tokens on my land plot and just recently harvested my first batch and kept the grain for future use, and to be honest, it felt super satisfying after engaging with Land. My plan with Land is to just keep stacking Grain, so that when I expand my Land activity and bring in more worker cards, I have plenty of food for everyone. Eventually, over time, I want to buy one plot for each resource type, so I can fully control my production and keep things running smoothly. Until then, it’s all about increasing my Grain production and balance and preparing financially for the next plots.
I hope you enjoyed reading my post about how to utilize the starter package in your Land. Please let me know your thoughts about this topic in the comment section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
