Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! It has been a week since the release of Conclave Arcana. I have opened my packs and got some great cards. However, these are not enough to build a decent deck. I'm still looking in the market for some deals. I was able to spot some and bought them and right now, I'm still on the lookout for some reasonably priced cards.
Cards I Bought
Gold Foil Kaylia Silverleaf
I bought two BCX Gold foil Kaylia Silverleaf for an average price of $10.50 each. She is my highest level archon at level three. She debuffs the enemy magic attack by one and grants the execute ability to elves. This ability can be crucial in close games where striking at the enemy twice can win battles.
Regular Foil Kavor Scarn
I bought five BCX of Kavor Scarn at $1.28 per BCX enough to upgrade it to level two. Kavor Scarn is a dragon archon so I can use him in all splinters. It also allowed me to use my favorite dragon units like the Night Reaper and Syrenth. Unlike other archons, Kavor Scarn doesn't provide general buffs but he is only a three mana archon. For bloodline buffs, Kavor Scarn grants an additional speed to all Dracoshan race.
Gold Foil Thunderous Herald
I bought this one for seventy cents. Being a gold foil, it's already at level three and cost the same as a regular foil at the time of purchase so I consider it a good deal. At level three, it has the Enfeeble ability and does two magic damage. It's also an Ulund that will work well with the Light splinter archon.
Those are the cards I bought and I'm still planning to buy and level up my other archons to level two.
Cards I'm Planning to Buy
Swiftbeard Stout (level 2)
Swiftbeard Stout is a rare card that will work well with the Fire archon. It uses seven mana, deals two ranged damage and has the Taunt and Bloodline Tribute abilities. I would need more dwarves in my deck to take advantage of this ability.
Fithe Bladestone (level 2)
Fithe Bladestone is the Fire archon. He is like the Kelya of this set granting two armor to all units and Void ability to all dwarves. He is a bit expensive right now with the gold foil version close to $20 per BCX.
Portly Cannoneer (level 2)
Portly Cannoneer is another dwarf. It deals two ranged damage and has the Inspire ability. At only four mana, it will be easy to find slots in battle and support my melee units by granting an additional melee attack.
Ashen Cindergrim (level 3)
Ashen Cindergrim is a dwarf magic attacker. I need it at level three to have an additional magic attack. It also has the Opportunity ability.
Archer Koi (level 3)
Archer Koi is rare card that deals two ranged damage at level three. I like it because it has the Repair ability which will synergize well with Commander Slade.
Steppe Stalker (level 3)
Steppe Stalker is an orc that deals two ranged damage. At level three it has two useful abilities. Close Range will make it useful in Going the Distance ruleset which I frequently encounter. It will also debuff the opponent by decreasing their speed by one with its Slow ability.
Fenmoor Platypus (level 1)
The Fenmoor Platypus is a decent damage dealer at position two. On the other hand, it has a very low health for an offtank. It will be more useful in Equalizer rulesets where it can get more health.
Mad Kaboomist (level 3)
The Mad Kaboomist deals two magic damage at only four mana. At level three, it will have two abilities: Snipe and Divine Shield. Like the Fenmoor Platypus, it's weighed down by its low health.
Thragrun (level 2)
Thragrun is a great card for a rare. It can deal two types of damage: ranged and melee. It has three abilities at level two: Reach, Cripple and Return Fire. Thragrun will be great with the Death archon that grants the Close Range ability.
Final Thoughts
I now have an idea how my deck would look like and how I would form a team with synergy. On the other hand, I would need funds to build my deck. Already I'm selling some of my L2 tokens and buying DEC while checking the market for cheaper prices. Building a competitive deck is part of the fun in playing Splinterlands. I'm glad for the new set which feels like a restart of the game.
