I think alpha/beta is a bit expensive unless you already have the cards. I had gold foil cards from opening packs in the past, so I just went with it.
There are not many playing on that category, and I do have some cards from that category.
I think there are a decent amount. It depends on the guild but in the 4 star category, there are quite a few people who actually play.
