Hello! This post is for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I brought a battle where I used Immortalis in Magic Only ruleset, in a Gold level cap brawl. Immortalis is one of my favorite Summoners in Earth, since it gives all units powerful abilities.
Battle Info
Rank: Gold League, Wild
Avaliable Type: Fire, Water, Earth, Death
Mana: 42
Wands Out: Only units with magic attacks may be used.
This battle had a decent mana limit with 42 mana. Life and Dragon elements were not abled, and you could only use Magic attack units. I only had 1 ruleset, so there were a lot of possibilities for me to make diverse lineups.
My Lineup
Summoner: Immortalis. For the Summoner, I picked Immortalis. It gives -1 health to enemy units, and gives Shield and Shatter to all friendly units. Void is especially good in this match, where only units that have magic attack are allowed. Shatter is kind of niche but it is also useful against heavy armored units or Void Armored units.
First position: Mycelic Slipspawn. For the tank, I went with Mycelic Slipspawn. It has Taunt and Forcefield ability. Taunt makes all enemy creatures target and attack this unit, and Forcefield is good against units with 5 or more attack. Another option for Mycelic Slipspawn could've been at the back of my lineup, since that will deflect the attacks to the last position.
Second position: Quora Towershead. At second, I couldn't resist putting in Quora, while I had the chance... Heal is nice to have on its own, and her double attack means that it could deal quite a lot of damage even against units with Void.
Third position: Mushroom Seer. Mushroom seer was perfect to have in this battle. It deals 3 magic damage (2 to Void units) and has 2 powerful abilities: Silence and Poison. Silence gives -1 magic attack to all enemy attackers, which is important when you can only use Magic attackers. Poison has a 50% chance of giving poison, which deals 2 damage every round. Although it can be cleansed, this card has the potential to deal a total of 5 damage in 1 round.
Fourth position: Goblin Psychic. Goblin Psychic is kind of a modern version of Mushroom Seer + Wood Nymph. It has Tank Heal, Affliction and Silence ability. Affliction also has 50% chance of giving Affliction, causing the target to be unable to heal.
Fifth position: Wood Nymph. Beta Tank Healer, Wood Nymph, is the fifth unit for me. I could've went with another 4 mana unit, such as Elven Mystic, who has Silence ability too, but Wood Nymph's Tank Heal and Strengthen, giving +1 health to all friendly units, felt important for me.
Last position: Spirit Hoarder. Lastly, I went with Spirit Hoarder. Triage is important against enemy units with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity, Scattershot. Dispel is crucial especially in Brawls where a Gladiator could get out of control by getting buffs from Bloodlust. Blind is not really helpful since magic has 100% chance of successfully landing a hit against units without Phase.

Round 1
The enemy monsters were revealed and they went with Kelya and Water lineup. They had some good units against mine, especially Riverboat Captain with Affliction ability and Anasth Soothsayer with Cleanse and Tank Heal. Cleanse was especially bad news since my units mostly had debuffing abilities like Silence, Poison and Affliction, while their tank had Void, Phase and Blind from enemy Spirit Hoarder, causing some of the slower units of mine to miss many shots.
Nothing much happened in Round 1 in terms of damage, since both Tanks had Void. I was able to land Poison on Djinn Oshannus, while they landed Affliction on my Mycelic Slipspawn. Unfortunately, I had no Cleanse unit, which means that it cannot be removed. But, it would be hard for them to take down because most of the enemy units had 1 magic attack, meaning that it is dealing 0 damage to my units with Void.
Round 2~6
Round 2 started and they cleansed Poison from Djinn, and healed Djinn Oshannus. I realized that Anasth soothsayer was cleansing first and then using Tank Heal, which meant that Affliction was useless. I also realized that this would be a long battle, because both teams was slowly chipping their enemy tank's health down until Round 4.
Round 5 started and Djinn Oshannus was at 2 health, while Slipspawn was at 5. At this round, I had a chance of taking Djinn Oshannus, but because Mushroom Seer missed the attack, it didn't happen. I also missed the opportunity again in Round 6.
Round 7
When it got to Round 7, Mycelic Slipspawn was taken down, and Quora was now at the front. Djinn was at 1 health, but it escaped again because it dodged so many attacks with Phase.
Round 8
At Round 8, I finally took down Djinn. It was lucky for me, since Goblin Psychic landed the final hit, despite its massive chance of missing the attack. (speed difference 50% + Blind 15%)
Round 9
Nerrisa Tridawn's cleansed 4 magic attack was dangerous, but because Quora had Void and none of the opponents did, it was fairly easy for my team to take down Nerrisa in this round.
Round 10
At R10, I was able to take down 2 of their units, Riverboat Captain and Spirit Hoarder. Even with Affliction on Quora, Void ability meant Quora was not taking much damage.
Round 11
Finally, at Round 11, I was able to take down the remaining 2 units. GG!
Thoughts about this battle
It was a really tough battle against Djinn Oshannus and Anasth Soothsayer. Because I used 2 Silence units, the units (back units that cannot get cleansed) were not dealing significant damage. The Phase almost made me lose the game by RNG, but I was lucky at Round 8. After that, I was guaranteed to win.
Thanks!
